Based on the most recent statements, I think it's likely we don't see him until next season.

or teasing boston and NY
But why would they do such a thing just to sell expensive ticket packages?I highly doubt Boston or NY spent any significant portion of time prepping for Freddie when they knew he wasn't even skating. This was all about stringing the fans along.
A non-surgical healing of a partial MCL tear has a wide range of healing time:So they knew he tore his MCL but kept teasing fans that he was 1-2 weeks away from the moment it happened?
Cool, cool cool cool
Sounds like he could have possibly made an appearance..eventually.
I can understand the angst but if the dude isn’t confident he’s not going to be good. The only problem is Raanta is pretty much dead now hahaWe don't know specifics but if it was a grade 2 tear he should have been ready around May 28th. If grade 3, then could be longer.
Thus, if a grade 2 or less, there would be angst from team mates/team Mgt. re: Freddie's unwillingness to get back on the ice (and would tie into past Leaf organization issues with Freddie).
From Cleveland Clinic website:
The time it takes to fully recover from an MCL tear depends on how severe the tear is. A grade 1 (mild) MCL tear usually heals within one to three weeks. A grade 2 (moderate) MCL tear generally takes four to six weeks to heal with treatment. A grade 3 (severe) MCL tear can take six weeks or more to heal with treatment
Remains to be seen what Raanta's injury is. Hoping it's a groin pull or hamstring pull, not a complete tear.I can understand the angst but if the dude isn’t confident he’s not going to be good. The only problem is Raanta is pretty much dead now haha
He looked gassed even before leaving with the injury. Noticed several times him wincing and getting up slowly after moving quickly laterally. I can imagine him looking like that meme with the kid using headphones as an oxygen line trying to get out of the media daysRemains to be seen what Raanta's injury is. If it's an ACL, Carolina will be hunting for another backup goalie for next year, as I expect Kochetkov will get next season in Chicago.
His game 6 reaction time was brutally slow....he was toast then. Agree with assessment from other Caniacs that Koch probably should have got the game 6 assignment. He looked gassed even before leaving with the injury. Yeah, I felt the same way before game 6, and certainly after it. Clearly what we were doing on the road wasn't working. Might as well take one of the low hanging fruit to make a big change to finally win on the road. His game 6 reaction time was brutally slow....he was toast then. Raanta ended up .922 save % - 6th in all PO teams. Backups included. Koch ended up with .869...He looked gassed even before leaving with the injury. Was commenting on his health not his performance. Thought he was great this postseason and very much want to see him back next season.Raanta ended up .922 save % - 6th in all PO teams. Backups included. Koch ended up with .869...
Andersen could've been a difference maker - we'll never know that, but Koch for sure was not.
FWIW: I thought he played pretty good until the Bruins rattled him. After that, he stayed too deep in the net & gave up the soft goals.Kochetkov needs to buy an accessory to close his 5-hole if he's going to survive in the NHL.
A non-surgical healing of a partial MCL tear has a wide range of healing time:
- A grade 1 (minor) MCL tear can take from a few days to a week and a half to heal enough for a return to normal activities, including sports.
- A grade 2 tear can take from two to four weeks to heal.
- A grade 3 tear usually takes four to eight weeks to heal, unless the ACL is also damaged, in which case recovery may take longer.
Anyone who’s had a knee injury and tried moving laterally would agree with the goalies. I don’t get why people would question himQuoting civ in that article but then not quoting the goalies in that same article its cherry picking. The goalies in that article said you definitely dont play through that type of injury.
Like any other injuries. Same would happen in the military. A guy gets hurt and looks to be healthy when observing him. When it comes time to do the lifting, they don’t feel they are healthy enough. People who can only see how they look and not how they feel on the inside. People get frustrated because of it and question it. I’ve done it myself with some of my Soldiers. Still not convinced i was wrong about some of them.Anyone who’s had a knee injury and tried moving laterally would agree with the goalies. I don’t get why people would question him
No, go ahead and take him on your fantasy team.Any worries about his health moving forward?
