I think that's sort of the reason, right? Hoping for that over pay. More than half his goals came in 3 games. But also he's at an incredible 15th place for shots on net amoung the NHL.

Do they think Frank the Tank is going to do this again next season, or keep it up through-out the rest of the season? If so, you got yourself a good trade piece, or potentially you have a piece to continue going forward with. But they aren't a playoff team this season, and who knows about next, so if you can find a team throwing more at you than you would have received for him initially, it might be worth making the move rather than waiting.

It depends. The cap is going up for next season. His contract becomes very affordable for a mid 6 role, where you expect close to 20 or so goals from. I don't know if teams will value him more with plans for their powerplay, but it really depends on the team and their situation, such as players leaving/not being re-signed next season, or potential injuries as the deadline nears.

Looking at the Ducks roster for next year… Henrique and Slif UFAs…seem just like you would want to keep him and look at add more help up front, not subtract. Like the Ducks have the primary building blocks up the middle set already and they have a potential #1D in the making. It’s time to start trying to win games.

Lol at first and high end prospect
PPG and 14 goals 1/4 of the way into the season at a 3.6 mil cap for this year and next.

I doubt the Ducks would get a first AND a good prospect, but why would the Ducks trade him now? Henrique and Silfverberg will be gone at the deadline/offseason and the team needs good vets.

They could easily wait until next deadline and get the same anyone would offer for him now, baring any overpayment like a 1st and good prospect.
