Grier inherited a mess, my sense is someone is just looking at the standings and talking out their @$$. There is frankly no way to accurately assess the success or failure of Grier's strategy until after the trade deadline.

I think MacFarland/Sakic deserve the worst GM award if we're giving it out today. Even with Nuke back for the playoffs, I can't see that team doing anything.

Treliving deserves a nomination for his Calgary "rebuild" and subsequent fleeing of the mess he created. Although, with the Flames, it can sometimes be hard to tell how much is on the GM and how much is on the owner.

I also think he's done little to help the Leafs, but at least there, you can argue he was handcuffed by a lack of assets due to Dubas' deadline deals over the years.

Jarmo is firing in waiting right now. The owner made that clear in their press conference at the start of training camp, addressing the Babcock fallout. He said something like ''The players have had enough distractions and don't need more'' which was obviously the Babcock stuff he was talking about. And the more ''Distractions'' part was obviously talking about firing Jarmo and possibly JD on the eve of camp, after they already thought they were getting Babcock to start the season and they didn't.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's one of those late season/deadline firings like Fletcher was last year. He can honestly go at any time now, if I had to guess, but I would say no later than like 2 days after their season ends he'll be ganked.

JD probably goes with him also, although JD may also be more of a figurehead and in a celebratory role, more than a day to day president of hockey ops. I think the first time he was there before he left for the Rangers (Which is a JOKE if they let him back as anything more than a figurehead/celebratory role lol) he really ran things, but not sure if he does since he came back 3 years ago.

Not sure what the issue is with Grier, unless you blame him for the team not sucking quite enough for Bedard last year. We KNEW the Sharks were going to be this bad. Everybody knew it before the season started, it was part of the design. I think most people knew Columbus was going to be bad, but they don't actually appear to be actively trying to be bad the last couple of years.
