France may host 2030 Winter Olympics. Probable return to SLC in 2034. UPD both announced

Makes more sense to rotate around a few select cities. Then, you are not always having to build new facilities and the ones that are built can be maintained. Trending that way now, given how few cities now bid versus the 5 or so back around the millennium.

The IOC has created an amendment that gives it the power to strip host cities of the Games if they question WADA's authority.

I don’t know the politics around the drug testing, but the IOC is never going to pull it away. They need Salt Lake more than Salt Lake needs them.

The IOC's veiled threat against the United States is all bark, no bite
Technically the IOC could pull the Salt Lake City bid if the U.S. doesn't follow its rules. The reality is, the IOC needs the U.S. more than the U.S. needs the Olympics.

French government confirms they are providing financial guarantees. More of a formality than anything else but some in France considered it wasn't a sure thing.
