Blah blah blah. The guy will be lucky to get 8 minutes tonight while Connor f***ing Brown gets 14-16 and Jeff Skinner gets 0.

Knoblock can f*** off as well.

Who knew an AHL tweener was the answer to all the Oiler woes. There were more compliments in that single tweet than Jeff Skinner has received cumulatively since he signed here.
I wonder if he can play goal too?

That 3rd line of Janmark Henrique and Brown is a joke by now.

Connor Brown is everything that is wrong with this team right now. Older, slow and soft, can’t score, no jam to his game.

Yet Jeff Skinner keeps getting benched.

Jeff Jackson can f*** all the way off and take Bowman and the pro scouts and goalie coach with you.

I don't know how Brown has kept his spot, especially when there's a fairly easy fix.

Drop RV, who at least shows a pulse, to the 3rd line, and give Skinner a look with Drai and Podz (who gets the settle in as purely as a forechecker and distributor). They had success together before the break, and I don't get why they've refused to go back to it.

Skinner-Drai-Podz
Janmark-Henrique-RV
Jones-Kap-Perry

The top like will still be ass, but at least I don't hate that bottom 9.

Seen how this team plays when they stop trusting their goalie too many times. Start playing scared but that puts them more on the defensive and opens the door to so many more chances to make a mistake. And the mistakes go in the net with ease and it all just snowballs. We start having to gamble to get back in the games and it leads to even more mistakes. Motivation starts to wane and morale keeps dropping.

Have we had 1 drama free season in the McDrai era? Where there wasn't some massive losing streak or playoff disappointment?

15-16: McDavid rookie season ruined by Brandon Manning, no where near playoffs
16-17: Refs steal Round 2 for the Ducks
17-18: missing the playoffs after all the hype from previous season
18-19: repeat of 17-18
19-20: Cutoff by Covid with Division standings suddenly not mattering and Dallas getting a bye instead of us and losing to effing 13th place Chicago in play-ins
20-21: Shortened Canadian division season, getting effing swept by the Jets and no crowds allowed
21-22: Insane Tippett losing streak, good run but swept by Colarado
22-23: Path to Cup as clean as it was ever going to be with a stronger team, then shitting the bed against Vegas in round 2.
23-24: Insane Woodcroft losing streak right out of the gate, going down 3-0 in Cup Finals and then G7 heartbreak
24-25: Insane Knoblauch losing streak. Cup contender to fragile in one road trip, like come on.

This team never does things clean for 1 full year. No division titles, no "comfortable" playoff series wins (no business letting the Canucks series go 7), no surefire regular season where they just STAY at the top 5.

As a fan, it's years off my life lol

What a childish post

Knoblock complains he’s not getting any scoring outside of 97 and 29.

Keeps Connor Brown who hasn’t scored in 30 games and is useless.

Sits Jeff Skinner who scores, for an AHL player.

Proceeds to wax poetic about said NHLer.

Will give him maybe 8 minutes tonight

Sorry if that rubs you the wrong way Mrs Knoblock.

They are probably banking on Brown having a good playoffs. He was pretty bad last season but had a decent playoffs.

I thought after we got through that tough stretch of schedule, beat the Wild and Avs on the road back to back, and took 1st in the division that we would launch and never look back. I thought finally, for once we put ourselves in a position to be drama free and comfortable in our position as a league leader.

Nope. Instead they cumulatively decided to play about their worst possible hockey at that exact moment instead. Want to know when this team will crater? Put them in 1st. They think that the job is done at that point, even if it's January 15th.

Last season, he at least looked comparable to RV this year. Snake-bitten af, highly ineffective, but I didn't question that he was trying.

This year it's fly-bys galore, he's barely engaging in board battles or going to the dirty areas of the ice, and he's unable to complete a clean pass or shot when the puck does find him on the perimeter.
And worst of all, it all because he's looks like he only half invested in the game

Maybe he's saving himself for the playoffs, I sure hope that's the issue with several of them.

If I recall, Brown spent time that playoffs being scratched. His good play was pretty much limited to the Florida series - granted the PK was excellent across the whole playoffs. But he's back to being disappointing again. Janmark/Henrique/Brown that whole trio has been a nothing burger all year. One of the main regrets / hindsight learnings is watching that line this year and then thinking of the players who departed the team last offseason who would all be upgrades on them.

It's infuriating to watch. They get the lead, and the foot comes off the gas - no different practice in the standings I guess. Every chance they have to create separation, nobody shows up. Golden Knights were fizzling through January and we caught them, and all you had to do was pretty much play average hockey to maintain 1st. But no, they have to double down and have an even worse skid than the Knights. Gah.

I'm curious to see how/if this changes over the next few days.

The Oil have been playing with a bare bones roster all year and it seems like there was clear emphasis on don't get hurt.

But now spare caps space doesn't matter (or won't after tomorrow), so I hope the Oil shift towards having 3 or 4 playable options in the PB. There should be the feeling of if you're not going, then someone's go to jump in and steal your minutes.
