Proviso that it was a given that neither Skinner or Arvid were going to fit in here well with D first coaching. These are high event playes associated with a lot of GA and a lot of undisciplined puck management. The view that Skinnner wasnt going to do well here WAS predicted, by myself and others and those posts were there. I don't buy it was that great a bet. It was likely to be another Neale or Turris. I did say I though Skinner could bag 20 goals. Anyway.
Arvid, nah, at 4MX2. TERRIBLE bet. No way was he going to be any impact player here after two back surgeries. Oilers didn't do the digging. Seems like the Oilers were fooled by last years short sample (and several posters were too) that Arvid was fine coming off back surgery. he wasn't. Even in the minuscule 16 GP last season he couldn't finish two of those games getting hurt, Got hurt in another of those games and I think he came out in one of the playoff games. Arvidsson was a complete waste of time. A Smarter club just got Granlund at TDL. That player was playing well for years, still putting up, and is healthy.
The rest of the guys on the list didn't produce squat last season and are doing the same this season. Pretty predictably. Never had any time for Brown, Ryan was done, Janmark done etc.
In anycase the Oilers brought back several old players when there was no reason to, lost several good players in offseason, and the 3 bets they took for forwards ALL failed. If you're a fan of this club for a longtime you're not at all surprised.
Holloway was a can't miss and the team just let him go. Dunces.
