Everyone speak about Jacob Fowler (me too), but man. Jakub Dobes 23 years old, 6"5 and very clutch to me since he join the Habs.

So who do you think will be the future starter of Habs?

I have high hope with both, but Dobes impressive me very much!

I think Dobes might be more naturally talented but Fowler is the type of goalie you win with. Not high or low just stable and plays winning goaltending. It's like Brodeur vs Roy. One was clearly more naturally talented but the other was a more solid winning goalie. Roy did great with the Avs but throughout the same era, he didn't put up the same numbers as Hasek or Brodeur and probably does worse if he switches situations with them

I do think Dobes will probably be the long term backup but he just doesn't have that presence you want in a starter that someone like Carey brought.

Picked Fowler, but including Dobes and not Montembeault is crazy imo. I feel like it will be one of the three, outside chance it's Primeau.

The hardest thing for a goalie to do is take a small sample and make it bigger. Dobes has looked good but tons of goalies have looked good in small samples.

Feels like a toss up, but Fowler might just have a bit more of that big game mojo in him.

Crazy thing is that both Miller and Volhokin have legit shots at becoming quality NHLers, and anyone of the 4, or Monty, may end up the best of a strong bunch

I don't see Dobes as a future starter yet. He is way too active and a rebound machine. Can't see a guy with that style playing more than 30 games. But you do see some late blooming goalies who figure things out over time. Maybe Dobes will be one of those.

Fowler has the make up of a #1. I am confident he will be our future #1.

Dobeš is an athletic freak so will probably be streaker but have higher highs. Fowler should be consistent and able to lock in when it matters.

Maybe it's because we've been blessed with Carey for so long but man does Dobes scare me. He is good, it's just the style that stresses me. Carey made every save look like they were easy with his exceptional positioning. Dobes is all over the place and makes so many saves look like highlight reels.

That being said, I love Dobes' confidence and mentality and this is exactly what Primeau misses and what prevents him from being a NHL goalie. Dobes will be in the NHL for a long time IMO.

Probably both TBH, you need two quality goalies in today's NHL. If we're lucky, we already have our future tandem in our system and we won't have to worry about it for a good long while after 25-26.

I doubt Miller will be anything. He is the Dach of goaltenders. Breath on him and he is gone for the season.

I'd lean Fowler for now, but its nice that the Habs have young goalies who have future starter upside. Its been a while.

I'm not sure but they should get Jake Allen back and go with the three man rotation again. Imagine the confusion? Jake, Jakub and Jacob

Fowler.

He's an athlete in net. Smaller. Has some of the quickest feet I've seen in a long time. Valiquette was speaking recently on RKB and mentioned that he sees somewhat smaller, more athletic, goalies making a comeback. He oozes "big game" potential. I just don't see that from Dobes.

If you put a gun to my head, I would probably choose Fowler. However, it's too soon to tell, as Fowler has just begun his AHL career, and has yet to see any NHL action. Goalie development is voodoo. Right now Fowler has looked great at each level, but you never know when and at what level a goalie stops progressing. Others develop later than expected. That's why having multiple prospects in the pipeline is so important.

Dobes moves too much for my liking, and that extra movement often turns routine saves into an adventure. I can't speak of Fowler because I haven't watched him play 5 minutes of hockey.

I listened to Demidov's agent talk about the superior development of Russian goalies so it gives me hope that the Russian kid might be the best of the lot.

Way too early to tell but the way Fowler has played since reporting to Laval is eye opening.
But I will stick with...too early to tell.
How is it “eye opening?” He performed the same in the USHL and NCAA. This is exactly what I expect of him in the AHL. When you dominate THIS MUCH as a youth athlete, you are likely to be similar as an adult. Primeau did not dominate until after he started at Northeastern.
