Well that's a good start for the tournament. Marner scoring GWG good for Leafland publicity. Realistically Scheif would have looked better on Mc Jesus's wing than Marner.
Crosby getting the accolades game 1 is good for the headlines.

Not a great looking defense. Binnington as #1 goalie could be an adventure.

I don't know if MacKinnon will pass the puck to Mc David if you put them together, interesting superstar dynamic.

It was more physical than I expected. Saturday's game might actually be decent.

Scheifele should be in over Bennet/Konecny/Marchand/Hagel. As much as I hate to say it due to his Leafs association Marner deserves to be there as in addition to the offense he is an elite Penalty Killer.

I wonder if the PK isn't something Scheif asks Arniel/Chevy for next year, with the Olympics on the line, because all those guys except Marchand are PKers if I'm not mistaken. Could be the decisive factor.

Maybe he does but from a Jets management perspective it doesn't make sense to play 55 too much on the PK due to the number of mins he already plays.

Kind of an ok game. One thing that really bugged my about Canada was the lack of any cycle play, typically you wear tears out with speed and size on the boards and they seemed to wanted to do everything off the rush. Doughty sucked too old for this surely someone younger would have been better. Not sure why Scheif or Suzuki are not there. Surely you have room for 2 right shot centers that could slot on too the wing really easily. Both guys are good on the boards and have a ton of skill. I get that Hagel is there he is having a monster year but Konecny,Cirelli and Jarvis don't do much for me at that level.

Binnington was ok, but he scares me. I guess I am just used to Helly making things look way too easy.
