Missing Scheifele and 1 or 2 other players who should be there but aren't isn't what is going to cook Canada in this tourny. It is goaltending. Not one of Canada's goalies would make any of the other 3 teams. Binnington has to be the most overrated goalie in history.

Couldn’t agree more.

Not having Logan Thompson there is a bigger sin than no schiefel.

I also think building bottom 6 “checking or grit lines” is gonna hurt us. But goaltending is number 1.

I think the US is getting a bit overhyped here.

I think Canada crushes them down the middle and is comparable at wing. I'd also argue with Hughes out we have more higher end talent on defense although they may have a bit higher end depth.

They have a huge edge in net though.

I also think we overrate Scheifele bit.

Hagel is a natural LW and is scoring the same as Mark this year and outscored him last year. He's also half a decade younger.

Point is a 40 plus goal 2x Stanley Cup winning 1C.

You could argue Cirelli but he's on the team for his defense and PK.

Maybe you can argue Jarvis/Konecny but Konecny produces similarly and is a natural winger.

To your point, @surixon, there's no doubt the USA team is the best they've ever iced competitively. That said, it's easy to see why some are overlooking Canada's depth when they don't even know how effective #44 is.

Really hoping Cooper deploys JoMo-Makar on some shifts. That skating ability is a cheat code and would be one helluva duo.

Tend to agree - the US team does in fact look like a bunch of all stars.

They obviously didn't distinguish players by what hand shots they were, with 10 of 12 forwards in the starting lineup LH shots, The 2 RH shots at center.

I just hope Josh isn't out there blocking Matthews and Laine shots on the PK. Canada has a killer PP. Could be fun to watch.

Probably could have found a spot for Scheif regardless of Crosby's health, but alas. Mo and Doughty (if healthy) would have been fun to watch together.

I wonder if Sanheim doesn't outplay Parayko. I think Morrissey and Sanheim track as two of the top skaters in NHL Edge stats. Does Parayko get to hit anyone, like Tkachuk out there?

I agree 100%. I'm kind of happy Scheifele isn't going so he gets to rest up for the playoffs, but I really don't get Canada's strategy here. It's a three game round robin followed by one medal game. I think the games are going to be track meets, not grind down hockey.

He's having a banner year and could be on this team and I'd have no issue. I just don't think leaving him off is some crime. Canada has a lot of talent upfront.
