I can see Crosby being this tournament's MVP, even if he doesn't have the counting stats that 97 or 29 may put up. I think Sid will excel by taking on a huge defensive role, taking every important draw, and playing both sides of special teams. Also, if Canada does decide to let 97, 29 and Sid all centre different lines he may feast offensively with less focus on him.
Crosby's experience on the MNT at best on best is far more than anyone else's in this tournament. He's always delivered especially in the clutch, I find this Is being overlooked. I expect his line to start every period.
What would you guys run for PP1. I think:

Crosby
Mac

Coops going to need to be creative here. Lots of cooks, potential to be absolutely automatic. When in hockey history have we had 4 guys as talented and smart as Crosby, MacKinnon, McDavid and Makar running a powerplay together? This is going to be special. I expect lots of movement up top, 97 29 and Makar using their feet to create openings, Sid working it down low. Reinhart not touching the puck but moving around getting open, sneaking back door and back to the half wall being the triggerman.
Reading through this everyone seems so down. Like they want Canada to lose to prove a point. This is an awesome team with so much potential. We've been starved of best on best and are finally pretty much getting it, hockey is supposed to be fun, why is everyone so down?

I'm not down on the tournament at all, what would people rather see? This or that useless and also boring all star weekend? The answer should be rather obvious. People shitting on it given the alternative are just the usual type who like to complain about anything.
I am however down on Hockey Canada because they have let things slip and there is rot all over the organization to the point where there is even serious possible morality issues involved..
Having said that, none of the players involved here are to blame for any of that and I wish them the best and will cheer them on as always. I don't think they will win because I think goaltending will inevitably bite us and that there is at least one team here with a clear better roster from top to bottom.
I expect some good to great hockey though..........and you certainly never get that at the f***ing all star game that's for sure.
It shouldn't matter whether the replacement needed is for a checking role or not, they already used enough roster spots on those. He's 2nd in goals, he should be on the team.
Omitting who is probably your best goalie is not an inconsequential selection, especially considering you're already questionable in that position to begin with.
They announce these rosters much too early.
