GDT: Four Nations Tournament - Starts Feb 12th @ 8pm ET, TNT

Russia can't officially do anything as a nation because of all the doping shit and then the war.
Is it an official nation thing or just a hockey tournament organized by the NHL? I do not know much about it. Have some countries participated in the Olympics in years of war?

Russia and Belarus are banned by the IIHF indefinitely. Not allowed in the WCs and WJCs. The league has a relationship with IIHF, and NHL players will participate in the 2026 Olympics, so even if they could have a Team Russia in a "nations" league tournament, think about the optics.

Thanks I did not know anything about all that. I did think we had Olympics and other tournaments when Russia was invading Afghanistan and when we were in Iraq/Afghanistan as well. As far as optics go I'm not sure how things should be regarding NHL players. Its not like they have any say in a countries wars.

Kreider is going for his BFF so they can post that picture of them in their home nation jerseys on the same ice. I jest, but it does mean something to both.

Don't think he plays much. Larkin is a much better player. Brock Nelson has been playing fantastic hockey for the Islanders recently. Trocheck is a more versatile player.

Mika has good linemates, but I wanted to see him with Kempe or Forsberg. Feel like they're style of play would drag Mika into things similar to Miller.

Im interested how Vaak comes out of this. Could be a confidence boost. Finland has loads of injuries. Fins always play up in events though.

I love this because he has himself fishing on the helmet,

Looks like Kreider is the 13th forward. You have to wonder if that's a sign that his back just isn't right. He wants to be there to support his country and teammates but just isn't healthy enough to perform on the big stage.
It could, alternatively, be that he hasn't been a very good NHL player this season.

Not saying you're wrong, but Sam Carrick has more even strength points than Kreider this year
