Fox is going to get worked. He cant keep up with this pace

Im wondering what we have in Fox at this point in time. People have such differing opinions. If I was a coach and he was at the PP point 70-75 feet away Id play off him and let him shoot. I wouldn't fear his shot from 70-75 feet. I think I have started to see that a bit. Noticed he wasn't on the PK. Also noticed he tried to throw a hit which was solid but soon after got away with an obvious hold. I do not think he is back to where he was before his knee injuries. Not saying he wont get there in time but I don't think he is there at this time.

Really crazy and a poor reflection of our fanbase how much Fox is getting shit on. 3 straight years of double digit goals and 70+ points. these were previously unheard of numbers for a defenseman in Rangerland. He's having a down year but he's still on pace for 65 points. If his S% was his career norm of 7 instead of 4, no one would be batting an eye. guys arent allowed to have a own year or even a down month around here. You put this guy in a better position to succeed going forward, you don't trade him for magic beans. 30 teams would be lining up to fleece us if they thought he was available. a year ago he had 17 goals in a season where he was playing with a knee injury from January on. He's also played a lot more playoff games than most of his contemporaries in recent years. By far our best positional defender as well. It's annoying how many of our fans have lost the plot this season.

Not bashing Fox nor saying we should give him away. Not saying he had a bad 3 years either. Just would like to have an realistic discussion of where he is now. No different than evaluating how any other of our players are playing this season. You mentioned 17 goals last season. That is a good place to start. I believe he has only 1 non empty net goal this season. Why the drop? Once again I'm not bashing him any more than I would bash a car that is not running well. I would look to find out what is going on.

Hell, the first game between Finland and Sweden might bring it down

My message wasnt directed at you, more the overall sentiment I see from some posters. His shooting percentage was like 12% last year as opposed to his norm of 7%. It's 4 this year. I think there's merit to him being slow to recover from theknee. I think he should be shooting more in general as well. Im a firm believer that we really can't know the full extent of the downturn until Lindgren isnt his partner.

I agree that the Lindy effect is also something we should keep in mind. I'm not expecting Fox to turn in to Barry Beck or Brian Leetch. I would luv that but that is not fair to Fox. I think Fox is very good at some things but also has some legitimate weaknesses. I think we should do what we can to pair him with a guy that can make up for some of those issues. Lindy is not that guy.
