This team deserves exactly what its getting.
They are a very easy team to play against right now.
Soft on the puck and soft in their own zone.

It was actually interesting to watch a team like the Caps. A big heavy team that is hard on the puck.
They dont over pass in the O zone either. They direct everything to the net with purpose.
Oilers were an easy mark.

If this team doesnt drastically improve their all around game then they wont get out of the first round.

Playoffs don't look too promising..

As some of us have been saying all along...goaltending is only part of the problem.
If they had an elite goalie it would only mask some of the other major ssues with this team.

Starting to think Knoblauch is not a great coach with his handling of Skinner, and juggling lines constantly but missing seemingly obvious combos to try out.

The offseason we just had might rival the 2017 offseason for how much it set the team back.
Yup. You don’t lose that much young talent and bet on worse, older and more expensive players without it hurting the team. We look like the Lightning except they have 2 cups to show for their age and lack of speed. We’re back at the 2020 Oilers, Mcdrai and not much else.

Connor is no longer quite like Connor. 71 points vs MacK at 87. Even with a couple games off, its not good. The team, aside from goaltending even, can't afford that with the way the rest of the Top 6 play outside of Drai.
I agree.
This team is in serious trouble if either Draisaitl or McDavid isnt up to par.

To be fair, this narrative existed last year as well (although not quite as bad).
What was the record (and goal differential) against the top 2 teams in each division last year?

McDavid needs to be shut down for the rest of the season.

This team is going nowhere with our goaltending and he is a shell of the player he used to be out there. -10 and 1 point in his last 4 games.

I would put money on Connor needing some kind of surgery but delaying it because of his wedding last summer. I don’t love that about him if that is the case.

I didn’t want to say it loud but it looks like he’s declining before our very eyes.😕

Record was 6-10-2

Goal differential was -23

I remember seeing a lot of posts about the Oilers feasting on bottom 5 teams while struggling against playoff teams as a whole last season.

Just feels like the team doesn’t have it this year. (Other than Draisaitl).

Management has to actually make some tough decisions.

They need to try and fix some actual problems with the team. Trying something different with the goaltending would be a start.

Jackson always talks about having a first rate organization. He supposively has been building a analytics department.

Its time to actually make some shrewd moves and actually do something. They need to do something similar to what the caps this offseason.

Honestly, this is probably a standard going forward, looks like pre-break was smoke, mirrors and Leon, oh well, at least they extended Draisaitl. Sucks that this is what we get for the rest of the year, but that's just how it goes.

Not exactly a recipe for success.

To be fair we were playing much better as a team until right before the break. Right now nothing is going well out there.

I actually wonder if he hasn’t gotten multiple surgeries.

Other than the collarbone surgery, it feels like hes tried to heal through rehab on multiple injuries now including the bad knee injury. I wonder if its just caught upto him.

Its either that or hes been regressing.

For sure they have had some positive stretches this season.
They havent played well for a while now though and we also dont know if this is rock bottom.

It could be that he didn't want surgery period like on his knee that one season. Whatever the case his inability to pull away from players, stickhandling, shot, ability to strip pucks and lack of physicality points to injury.
