I will say what nobody wants to hear…

We look like Chicago and Pittsburgh after they had won their cups, except we haven’t won a damn thing. The team as a whole is too old now and the cupboards are bare thanks to incompetent management. It’s too late to rebuild things at this point. We will not win a Cup in the McDrai era.

This team has a crazy high ceiling and a crazy low floor. We are capable of playing like the best team in the league for stretches but no other “good” team is capable of playing this bad.

For whatever reason our mental inability to start strong is a huge part of this team identity. We are right back to October here.

Pissed away their entry level contracts, almost pissed away their second contracts. They couldn’t build a decent team around those 2. Holland being in charge in their 20s was a mistake of monumental proportions

88 USD to watch that disaster in person. Shades of 06-07 where the chemistry and willpower that took us to Game 7 the previous year simply isn't there, no matter how badly we want to deny otherwise.

Everytime the Oilers play washington, it's a reminder of one of Holland's low key bad moves in passing on Strome after he was bought out by Chicago so he could give Puljujarvi 3 million per year.

Hopefully the Oilers get their heads out of their collective asses before this road trip turns into a total disaster.

We need some top 6 goalscoring wingers, a better RD than Emberson if we are going to roll with Bouch and Klingberg on RD, an actual starting goalie and some players that are willing to sacrifice their bodies to spark the team. Whether it be a big hit, fight or blocked shot. This team is too soft and too reliant on 2 players so that when ne of them is struggling dues to injury, illness, whatever, our goose is cooked.

We have a top 6 goalscoring winger but Knoblauch absolutely refuses to play him in the top 6. Like I posted in the GDT, Skinner is fourth on the team in even strength goals despite playing limited minutes and being healthy scratched throughout the year.

I know I know, Podkolzin is good at puck possession. That doesn't mean shit if you can't create any offence with it. Skinner didn't score 30 goals 6 different times by being unable to get possession of the puck. Look at the goal he scored today.
