I agree that he’s tremendous at playing the puck.

Slight correction, though. The ice for the Olympics next year will be NHL size. This changed years ago.

USA had no answer for Cale.

The difference between him and the other Canadian defensemen was astonishing to see. It really shows just how much better he is than the rest of the league on D.

Towes had a better tourney then Makar and besides that one play it really wasn’t even close for me

Anybody could fire the puck down the boards. Manson and EJ would do that without even thinking twice.

Frail Cale would normally try some dipsy doodling and give the puck away. Never a positive Corsi without MacK on the ice.

Captain Quinn would have dangled the whole USA team and tucked that puck in 5-hole to win it.



Yes that means he would have scored an own goal for those keeping track.

Cale seems like the type who needs to spend some time with guys and doesn't find instant chemistry. You could see it on plays where he would creep into the slot only for the puck to be put into his skates. If that's an Avalanche player giving him the puck, it's on his blade.

I think a lot of that is on his teammates too. They're not used to the D man being the best passing option for the most dangerous play so often.

Cale just ends up in spots on the ice other D men don't. Canada got better at finding him though.

Why doesn't the NHL show their numbers as a percentage of the viewers in a market who tuned in?

Raw numbers will always just skew HEAVILY towards higher population centers.
