I thought Toews was bad last night, fighting the puck a ton and some poor decisions

Yeah, Toews had a rough night last night. But he was outstanding in other games this tournament.
What more can you realistically expect from a defenseman on the wrong side of 30, who was never a superstar in his career, going against other countries best players?
Watching Drew Doughty try to keep up last night just made me sad.

Who cares? They scratched one of the best players in the world and a gamebreaker in a single elimination game to barely play a broken down Chris Kreider. That’s a terrible decision.

I'd always thought of Devon Toews as a B version of Jaccob Slavin but it wasn't even comparable last night

Toews was saddled with lousy forwards last night, because he and Makar were rarely on the ice with the Tourney MVP. McDavid played no better than Parker Kelly in regulation last night, and we know that bad forwards make the D look bad. And vice versa.

On a scale of 0 to 10, 0 being not at all, and 10 being dead sea level saltiness - how salty have the oilers fans been about the Mack MVP?
I watched the game and leaned Canada because of Mack, Makar and Toews, but I couldn't celebrate the GWG because it was Floater McDavid all alone in the slot.

Hagel’s response to Tkachuk talking about how group chats planning fights was something along the lines of “we’re here to win, we don’t have group chats”.
Tkachuk’s response to that was “maybe they don’t like each other over there”.

I can’t believe I’m reading Leafs fans defending Matthews and saying he made the right play on the winning goal.
I’ve had to respond in the Four Nations forum breaking it down.
First… Hughes(#86) and Nelson(#29) are correctly covering their points.
Hanifin(#15) is correctly covering the front of the net as he’s the LHD and the puck is in the USA right corner. He’s got Point wrapped up in front.
Fox(#23), the RHD, regardless of the path he took, is going to close down Marner in the USA right corner. Marner is standing completely still and is no threat to score from that position. All he can do is pass. Fox is going to close him down.
Matthews(#34) is the center and the slot threat where his opposing center, McDavid, finds himself is 100% his responsibility. Look at the path. Look at the dots. That’s simple coverage.
Matthews got caught puck watching Marner who, again, is zero threat to score from there or even drive the net as Fox is closing him down.
Matthews’ responsibility on that play is to take Marner’s pass away to the obvious man he is supposed to be covering, McDavid.
Obvious shit.

It's a "group chat" titled Champions.
The Tkachuks were proud to have a group chat with J.T Miller planning their three fights last game and said if Canada doesn't have group chats they must not like each other much or something along those lines.
Watching live I SCREAMED "HE'S WIDE OPEN GIVE IT TO HIM" and couldn't believe Matthews actually let it happen
