Yup.

It’s Tom Wilson time.
The biggest mistake Canada can make is thinking next year's team can look like this one.

IMO USA was better tonight and Canada got saved by Jordan Binnington many times over, especially in overtime.

They can't be bringing players like Marchand, Stone, Cirelli, Jarvis, Parayko, Doughty, or Sanheim to the Olympics.

I even thought Marchand and especially Doughty played well tonight, but time is up. Marchand was a step behind most shifts this tournament.

Gotta get younger and faster.

Lol. This was a 4 game made up tournament. Sure Canada won the last game and "won" but saying Canada is better than US is laughable when they got beat by the US less than a week ago. And keep in mind I was cheering for Canada.

Both teams are really good. Would love to see how it shakes out it a real tournament. Also would love a 7 game series.

It's also unfortunate that there is no Russia as they are stacked too. Trying not to get political but punishing the players for Russia is nuts. Also a world team of the remaining countries would be sick as well. Hopefully this tournament can become a yearly thing and grow.
It's fine if the USA wins in the Olympics and beats down Canada, which is what truly counts. If they lose this and the Olympics, then their team is overrated AF. A USA win today would have done amazing stuff in getting new people into hockey in the States. A ton of people who never really watched hockey before were watching today, including a lot of minorities.

Hopefully, Russia will be allowed in the Olympics. Not because I like them or anything, but because tennis has all their Russian stars playing and it is such a negative not to see their talent up with the best. Plus I want to see them get beatdown by CAN and USA.

f*** you all

I'm going to bed. I have to work for the US Federal Government tomorrow. (Which means I now have to go into the office with shit all to do so I will probably pay some bills, and make some phone calls on some shit having nothing to do with my job)

Absolutely took the buyout with a happy dance lol.

Curious to see your replacements.

Schiefele, Thomas, Bedard/Celebrini, Wilson up front? Suzuki? Barzal?

On D I'd guess at least one of those 3 makes it assuming everyone is healthy.

It honestly depends on how guys are playing next season BUT I think from now you can probably pencil in:

XXX - McDavid - Marner
Crosby - MacKinnon - XXX
XXX - XXX - Point
Hagel - Bennett - XXX
XXX

Toews - Makar
Morrissey - XXX
Theodore - XXX
Harley

Binnington

I think Team Canada will think of several things related to this tourney:

1) Sam Bennett likely impressed them enough in a 4th line role physically and scoring tonight to earn a spot next year provided his game doesn't fall off a cliff

2) Thomas Harley likely is the 7D given his play improved especially tonight

3) Jordan Binnington so obviously is the starter next year after tonight's performance even if he stinks to start the year

IMO Team Canada brass wants nothing to do with Mark Scheifele for some reason, and they seem against Tom Wilson, too.

If they want to get younger/faster I can see them looking into players like Bedard, Celebrini, Johnston, Suzuki, Barzal, and Kyrou.

If they want to go the "vet" route and look to size and not-bad skating ability I could see players like Duchene, Hyman, Batherson, Benn, etc.

Honestly, I think a lot of forward spots SHOULD be up for grabs. I didn't like Sam Reinhart all tournament but I'll bet Canada goes right back to him. Ditto Cirelli even though I bet Suzuki would do way better at Cirelli's job than Cirelli did.

Robert Thomas will be on the team, IMO.

Wyatt Johnston will be in the running, too.

I’d add them to the players you’ve listed in contention for spots.

I don’t think Sam Reinhart played himself off this team. Cirelli will be back if Cooper is coach again.

Yeah, I can see the first two being there. My preferred team looks different from the team I think Canada will bring, so I won't even bother trying because like you said if Cooper is back, Cirelli is back 100%. Same goes for if Armstrong is involved, Parayko is there for sure.

I'd run something like:

Bennett - McDavid - Marner
Crosby - MacKinnon - Point
Konecny - Thomas - Reinhart
Hagel - Cirelli/Suzuki - Johnston

Assuming Schefiele is blacklisted. Johnston would probably look good next to Crosby/Mack too

I thought Parayko and Cirelli were fine and stood out in positive ways tonight.

I agree one everyone except Cirelli and Sanheim.

I think Cerelli can absolutely be a #4C/13th forward. I thought Sanheim was good, his instincts along with his skating ability is solid along with obviously his size and strength.

Morrissey and Parayko REALLY disappointed me. Morrissey with the first game against the States, like yeah he’s not Cale but he showed zero of what Cale brings to the table when he had the chance to be the #1. Parayko was getting picked on in the corners today with his lack of puck handling ability.

Yeah, my team would look pretty close to that.

I’d get Tom Wilson on the team for the mayhem and a proper response to Brady Tkachuk for the Americans.

Suzuki is blacklisted because he turned down Canada two or three times for the World Championships despite missing the playoffs with Montreal and being completely healthy. They don’t like that shit from young players.

Have to remove him from suspension first. Hockey Canada is stubborn AF so his saving grace is that there’s no way they leave Makar at home so that should put and end to it

Seconded on Wilson. No clue what Sweeney was thinking going with Konecny and Jarvis over him
