IMO he deserved it mostly because no one else deserved it more. No player was head and shoulders above the others in a short and tight tournament like that.

Exactly he led the team in goals, no one else was mind blowing. He deserved MVP as was probably the most consistent player for Canada.

Hughes is a great player. MVP based on being the most valuable to his team? Sure give him the votes.

At a best on best tournament we saw the winning team give Makar their most minutes. Not f***ing Parayko or Morrissey. And we saw how bad that team looked when Makar wasn't there.

Hughes deserves to be in the Hart conversation if Nucks make the playoffs, same with Werenski if Jackets make the playoffs, but that doesn’t make them the best d-men just because they’re most valuable to their team, and they do put up bunch of points

MacKinnon appreciation post. Guy just won MVP and showed up in a best on best tournament to add to his resumé of hockey accomplishments. We are extremely blessed to have a player like that wearing the burgundy and blue. If he adds an art ross this year and Olympic gold next year, I’d put him as equal to Sakic as greatest to ever play for this franchise.

Both teams are really good. Would love to see how it shakes out it a real tournament. Also would love a 7 game series.

It's also unfortunate that there is no Russia as they are stacked too. Trying not to get political but punishing the players for Russia is nuts. Also a world team of the remaining countries would be sick as well. Hopefully this tournament can become a yearly thing and grow.
