Makar was Canada's best player. Marner played well and he made the most of the opportunity for that tying goal. But Makar was Makar.

IMO he deserved it mostly because no one else deserved it more. No player was head and shoulders above the others in a short and tight tournament like that.
He's got like 20-30 more points than the 2nd best player on the Canucks. I prefer Makar, don't get me wrong, but there's a reason why Western Canadian reporters want him as a Hart candidate.

I don't really agree with this. I think G takes a hit to clear the Puck a lot. Especially on the PK.

Hughes deserves to be in the Hart conversation if Nucks make the playoffs, same with Werenski if Jackets make the playoffs, but that doesn’t make them the best d-men just because they’re most valuable to their team, and they do put up bunch of points
