You seem to miss it’s a replacement for the NHL all star game. Those other nations, sans Russia, wouldn’t be able to ice a team with NHL players. As a one off and intro back into Olympics this is as good as it gets.

Great points in here. I was wondering why there were only 4 but yeah - this makes all the sense in the world.

Fans shouldn’t critique the NHL too badly here…….The NBA just had their ASG and it was a complete and utter disaster. The NHL’s version of this weekend ran circles at 100mph around the NBAs product. Honestly the NBA needs to blow things up almost entirely.

We had NHL players willing to drop gloves multiple times in exhibition - the NBA would KILL for any pulse of genuine interest in a game at this point.

Yeah but the World Cup is more popular and has been around for a while. This 4 nations is probably just a one time thing. I don’t think they gonna do it again
