Especially not with it shutting the season down for 2 weeks and potential for injury to Larkin or Raymond.
They could get hurt in practice or in a regular NHL game too. Don't think the risk is higher at 4 nations, might even be lower if the games end up not being very intense.

Sure but regular season games (and the practices for them) are something that I actually care about.

Not so much a midseason money grab by the owners.

Last best-on-best tournament was in 2016 and absence since has been a lost opportunity to promote the game and its star players. Of course it doesn't decide anything and every international competition carries risk of player injuries. Of course it would be much better as a bigger established tournament like the Olympics, but I'd much rather have something than nothing. It's not unusual for other sports to play international "friendlies" that mean nothing but are played at a high level and often see a player injured. C'est la vie for pro athletes. The games will be at the very least interesting and most likely pretty intense. Players respond to representing their country even when there's no apparently good reason to do so.

So basically our guys are playing more than 82 games. So glad Seider isn't from these 4 nations. Manufactured excitement. Good rest for those not playing.

If they get hurt playing for the Wings, that is much different than a meaningless tourney. Games will always be a bigger injury risk than practice and by a large margin.

Fix our PK

I think it might be a bit of a defensive talent issue as that is the one area Todd has only improved by a very small margin.

I prefer the Olympics. I'm going to miss seeing some of the other good teams (Russia, Czech Rep, Slovakia, Latvia, Swiss, etc.). Those games mean so much to the smaller hockey crazed countries.
