Four Nations-cup

Czechs, I was surprised as well. They are a very strong team and have some good players. Was a bit surprised they were left out

And Regina being in would have been nice too. I might have had a chance. Oh well
I asked Gary myself, he said for competitive balance they need to make it as equal as possible, and with you in net it would just be too hard for the other teams to score.

Unfortunately his problem is likely that he needs rest after playing more hockey the past couple years than almost anybody. Would be better off spending two weeks at home. Same goes for Ekholm.

Saw Ek's interview yesterday. Dude has no voice after being sick.

Hope he somehow gets back to 100% while playing in this tournament :(

Gotta feel bad for Cooper, he’s never had to worry about his goaltending before. Now it’s which meh option do I choose. Binnington is pretty much Skinner 2.0, either really good or just awful, no in between.

Binnington at least has the ability to steal games more othen than Skinner does even though his bad game appears just as often. Though the only game they may need a steal is the US game.

May to steal a 2nd game as well, if the U.S appears in the finals against us. A tall order.

That's moreso the game I was thinking of. Losing the round robin game vs US may not matter if they take care of business vs. Sweden and Finland.

In some ways it may be better to lose vs. USA in the round robin assuming they get the other wins as I can't see either team beating the other twice in 6 days.

Might be worth considering a 5 forward first unit if they are trailing in a game and desperate for a goal.

Binnington is the starter.

Congrats, Team Sweden.

Insanely, that might legitimately be the best option.

Love how the #1 Canadian goal scorer (tied) and the #1 Canadian goaltender (by a mile) are both not on this team for no reason other than "we're actually smarter than everyone else here."

Neither this year's number 1 Canadian goal scorer (as you say, tied) nor last years number 1 Canadian goal scorer (combined playoff and regular season) are on this team.

Doubt they'll need more goals, but if they do....

Doug Armstrong is interesting, because on one hand he made one, arguably two "home town" picks in Binnington and to a lesser extent Parayko. Its possible that neither are on the team with almost any other manager.

On the other hand, he leaves Robert Thomas off, which in my opinion is an insane omission. This is possibly the most dumbfounding "best on best" Canada roster ever.
I didn't understand the reputation pick in a past his prime Doughty to replace Pietrangelo. The Oilers elite players caved him the last 3 playoffs, but now he's somehow going to jump in 3 games after coming back from a major injury and play second pairing D? There will be no soft match-ups in this short tournament where Canada can shelter him.

As Pietrangelo was the only dman that was originaIly selected that had played for gold in a best on best tournament, I could accept him to replace at least that role on the team even if it's a bit of a downgrade vs. some of the other options discussed. The issue was likely moreso that I don't like Parayko to eat some of the minutes Pietrangelo would have.

Parayko played in the Worlds with McDavid, Mackinnon and Reinhart. Maybe a few others that I can't think of the top of my head.

He wasn't on Team Canada in the actual best on best World Cup and didn't play for gold. I checked, and no one else amongst the defense was on Canada in 2016. On forward there was Crosby and Marchand, but no others. Crosby and Doughty were also on the 2010 and 2014 Olympic teams.

Yup. All the kids that didn't get to the medal round because they blew a 3-1 lead vs. Sweden and ended up winning in OT instead of regulation. Thus the comment, didn't play for Canada nor for gold in a best on best tournament.

Is this real?
