Former NHL enforcer Andre*Deveaux*had his contract terminated by*Swedish league*clubRogle*BK following a brutal slash to an opponent prior to a playoff game on Thursday night.*

The 31-year-old, who had short stints with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers,*made what appeared to be an unprovoked attack on Vasteras IK captain Per Helmersson.

Deveaux was unapologetic after the violent incident and was allowed to play in his team's victory.*

"He was fine. I'll think about him while I celebrate with the team," Deveaux said.*

Unfortunately for him, he spoke too soon.*Rogle announced Monday in a press release that they had terminated Deveaux's contract.*

"His actions are indefensible,â€*team chairman Hakan Eriksson said.*

The*Canadian forward played only 20 games with Rogle.

That's basically just as bad as Todd Bertuzzi, regardless of how badly Helmersson is injured. Deveaux should not only be banned from hockey but should also be facing criminal charges.

The fact that Deveaux was still able to play that game after that is totally whack. What kind of bush league would allow that?

Apparently the officials didn't see it, so they only had word of mouth to go by. They can't kick a player out of a game based on that, no matter how bad it sounds.

It wasn't until later that the league was able to review the video.

Holy crap. Evidently unprovoked, and then that's Deveaux's response? "I'll think about him while I celebrate with my team"? Bloody psychotic.

I'm thinking the same.

Not only should be facing a possible life ban (he should, but not gonna happen), but hopefully assault charges as well.

That was truly sickening.

I can tell you from experience that the guy is an absolute idiot of the highest degree. While playing here with the chicago wolves he actually blamed the equipment mgr and team brass for him missing an easy tap in on a play....said his sticks were the blame.

He also punched teammate jason krog in between periods of a game they were winning for...taking some of his powerplay time...really??!!?? This clown couldn't hold jason krog's jock strap on krog's worst day and his own best day.

Needless to say some of his former teammates have chimed in on twitter with something you NEVER see teammates EVER doing...ripping on another teammate, current or former. Usually they just shine it on and move away from the subject, but not this time. Shows you what a P.O.S. the guy really is.

Former NHL enforcer? I mean this in the nicest way possible, but check that guy for brain damage. Has this guy ever had documented anger issues in the past?

Helmersson to press charges:

http://www2.tsn.ca/bardown/Story.as...+Deveaux+for+vicious+pregame+attack&id=523103

With footage surfacing yesterday of Andre Deveaux’s vicious attack on Per Helmersson before Thursday’s playoff game between Rogle BK and VIK Vasteras HK in Sweden’s second-tier professional hockey league, Deveaux has been officially released by his team, Rogle BK. Prior to yesterday, there was no footage of what started the pregame brawl between both teams, but now it is very clear what did. The former Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer is also having charges pressed against him by the victim in the incident, Per Helmersson.

This new footage of Deveaux talking to his assistant coach just prior to the attack makes some believe that he was instructed to do so, however, this may be hard to prove. We’ll keep you updated with more details as they come up.

I cannot believe any assistant or other coach would have asked for that. And if they had, it would still take a mega-deranged puppy to actually do it. Hopefully he has played his last organized hockey game. Dude is sick.

He's not articulate.

Never liked Andre Deveaux, his stint with the Leafs was almost as bad as Hollweg's. Decent player in the AHL; was completely **** once he got up to the NHL. He was a below-average fighter who seemed to frequently pick his spots. Had a dirty reputation.

Deveaux would have been better off jumping the player during his shift rather then doing that during the warm-up. Poor decision on his part.

Here's a clip of him getting destroyed if it makes anyone feel better:

****ing scary clip.

never seen another KO quite like this one... can really see the power in macintyre's punches.

also, what the **** is deveaux thinking? why did he think the league wasn't going to act? the arrogance in that interview is beyond bush league... good luck finding work andre, because i'm not even sure the ****ing LNAH wants to touch this.
