Henrique is getting up there in age, but I think reading into his stat line is a bit misleading. He hasn't played with any of the Oilers' top players (except briefly last season) and he has been stritcly employed with defensive duties. As a center he now has to cover more ice, which he didn't have to consistently do here. His minutes are down too, and him being in a defensive role I think the expectation for prodcution has shifted. It's much harder to score with just 0:38 PP TOI/G also, which takes away ~ 20 points that he usually contributed here playing bigger minutes.
He still takes key face-offs, is relied on match-ups and his versatility is nice to have. I liked him last playoffs, most of the time, but I haven't watched him much this season. Maybe he's washed now I don't know. However his role is obviously very different than it was here, and with his ice-time/employment it would be foolish to expect him produce like he did here.
I bet Oilers' were pretty happy with him helping them made cup final last season, and I bet veteran of his ilk will be good to have for this run too. I gladly took the 1st they got for him, but honestly If the offer would've been late 2nd instead, and Rico would've liked to re-sign here... I wouldn't have mind keeping him. Reliable, versatile forward who wins draws sure would be of help. Especially good fit to Cronin-hockey™ as well.
You could argue he's more of the same what we have, but there's a lot of guys in here I'd love to replace with Rico.
