Former Ducks (2024-25 edition)

Fowlers issue here was always utilization and expectation. The team that can fit him on the second pairing or with a true #1 will love him. The Blues appear to have that, so they’ll likely love what Fowler brings.

This has always been the issue with the Ducks. Fowler has been utilized incorrectly for most of his career. Throughout though, Fowler provided good, quality minutes, strong offense, and a great attitude.

It is not surprising to see him playing well; I personally expected him to improve. In fact, I would argue most of the players on this team would improve playing on stronger teams. Better structure, coaches, players, vibes, etc... - all of it adds up to an environment more conducive for success.

Since being traded to the Oilers' org and sent to AHL Bakersfield, Jacob Perreault has scored 1g + 3a = 4pt in four games and a +4 rating. Jacob was 0g +0a = 0 pts and a -3 rating with Laval in the AHL (Habs affiliate), but was a ppg player with the ECHL team with 1g + 4a in five ECHL games. It looks like he's having fun again with Bakersfield. Perreault had a 2 assist night against the Silver Knights on Condor goals #1 and #3.

Friedman said something interesting about Fowler on his podcast today. He repeated the reasons for the trade which are well documented: young players pushing for time, team not winning, not utilized correctly, etc...

But he did confirm something that's only been conjecture: Fowler was upset not being made captain. This is the first time I have seen it acknowledged publicly, other than rumors, that Fowler wanted to be the captain and was unhappy when it didn't happen. I have stayed away from this line of thinking but I suppose it's fact now.

Makes sense. Ive been passed over at jobs for promotions despite more years of hard work just because I wasnt vocal or outspoken enough. Also could have been because of my skating has been declining, but I doubt it.

I mean was it a quote from Fowler? Still feels like a bit of conjecture.

Do you have a link to the source of this?

It's from today's podcast. I believe it's between the 26-33 min mark. He talks about Gibson, and I think he mentions Fowler then. But I could be wrong, and it's at a different time in the podcast.

It was not a quote from Fowler but he was directly listing reasons why Fowler wanted the trade. Friedman is usually reliable about stuff like this and doesn't throw out statements just because.

Gotcha. Thanks. I'll try and listen later when I get a chance.

don't think anyone could blame fowler for being unhappy over being passed over. but does that mean he had been asking for a trade since getzlaf retired and he wasn't given the C to start the 22-23 season? or did he assume he'd eventually get it after they went two seasons without a captain? the fact that he didn't get the C after getzlaf retired pretty much confirmed he was never getting it

idk, to me it just seems like a claim without any actual evidence to back it up
