This story on Boston.com got me thinking.

My Mom who didn't drive until after my Dad passed took me there by train so SHE could see Toody and Muldoon from Car 54.

I remember when there was a roller coaster at Revere Beach

and Paragon Park in Hull (Nantasket)

Norumbega Park in Newton was magical when I was a kid

Canobie Lake Park didn't excite me as a kid but when my son was growing up it was the only game in town.

I miss those days.

I have a family picture of Fred Gwynne and "Toody" visiting one of my aunts when she lived in Medford. He knew my uncle Russell (has a credit on IMDB).
Kevin you may remember my mothers family name? When I dig up the picture I'll post it here. My aunt was having a BBQ and IIRC uncle Russell popped in with them looking for some free eats LOL.
My dad took us to "Pleasure Island" all the time in the sixties.
I remember going on stage to get a "Silve Bullet" from Rex Trailer who I thought at the time (or maybe it's my failing memory) was the Lone Ranger.

Supposedly the Moby Dick is still visible in one of the ponds.
Yeh go thru and watch the 5 minute video this kid did - it’s hilarious and informative highly recommend

It’s in the story

I went as a kid and screamed like Nancy Kerrigan when that whale appeared

I was maybe 5 but was soft even then

Doh. Guess I should've looked at the article.

There was a clown inside one of the arcades at Paragon that gave me nightmares for years. Kept me away from the skeeball I guess.

You, the sibs and 10 of your most favored of friends all in the a back of a shitty station wagon for an hour plus in the summer heat.

An unending supply of hot dogs, burgers, corn, ice cream sandwiches and endless Cokes.

Trying not to pull a Bruins afterward on coasters, tilt-a-whirls and the Turkish Twist.

I haven't thought of the Digital outings at Canobie in forever.

I guess kids today have phones, so..

This is a great thread, as I'm a huge roller coaster enthusiast. Currently been on 87 different ones, really want to get to 100 but hard to find the time.

Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT has a world class wood roller coaster in Boulderdash. For a while it was ranked a top 5 wooden roller coaster in the world, not sure where it ranks nowadays. Built on the side of a steep hill through the woods, its got a really cool setting and feels very fast and unhinged to ride. Very exciting if you're into that.

While not New England, this was a fun documentary:

It was pretty true to life, too. If anything, it held a few details back. I was an Action Park photographer for two summers at the turn of the 80s to 90s, and the place was every bit as crazy as the documentary said it was, and then some.

A lot of the kiddie rides from Whalom Park are now at Ocean Park Beach in CT. It has a boardwalk, arcade, water park, pool, and the rides. It's a fun little spot to visit if you have young kids still.

Does anyone remember a water park near Weirs Beach in New Hampshire? I can remember going there as a family when we were vacationing on Winnipesaukee as a kid and I don’t think it’s still open.
