Could they potentially buy him out? Wonder if he’d sign back here for a team friendly contract to play a limited role.
What would we even pay him? Not being sarcastic. By next season he might not even be a 3rd liner, but he can still score on the PP. But then how much better is he on the PP than Guentzel and what's the $ value on that?

It really might be somewhere in the 2m neighborhood. Maybe not under a higher cap. I just mean, if most of his scoring is coming on the PP, a large percentage of those goals are just goals somebody else would have scored. (Like if Stamkos could score 15 on the PP still, but we remove Guentzel, who can score 15 too).

I don't see the point, we're seeing good hockey from the team right now we don't a player who's going to be excused for his shit play on the ice with turnovers and defensive lapses. He provides nothing at ES, like I'd rather have Ace out there forechecking his ass off. The PP is 3rd in the league even after the early season struggles and that's only area he could possibly help in and that's only if Kucherov is on it as well, he's legit useless without him like he is on Nashvilles.

If were being honest I don't think he signs back here even for league minimum after this offseason with JBB, he would sign somewhere like Vegas or Toronto if bought out.

Stammer may only have 18 goals in 62 games, half of those on the PP, but he does lead his team with 5 GWG. I mention this only to throw some appreciation his way, especially since another team is paying for that contract.

While I don't think we ever shied away from admitting this, we also no longer have to try and make excuses for Stammer's generally poor playoff pedigree, either. 0.79 points per game from Stamkos (and 50 of his 101 points came on the power play) just wasn't good enough from on-ice expectations.

For some perspective, among other notable Lightning plays from this era, power play points make up 42.5% of Kucherov's playoff total, 43.6% of Hedman's, 19.1% of Palat's, 37.9% of Point's, 21.5% of Johnson's, and 31.2% of Killorn's, all lower and in some cases considerably lower than Stamkos at 49.5%; Johnson had just as many non-PP points in his playoff career as Stamkos did, Killorn had 2 more points, Palat had 25 more. Imagine Ondrej Palat having that much better of a playoff track record, right?

Obviously the PR of moving on from an icon like Stamkos was difficult, but in retrospect I have to give JBB all the credit for this. He made some poor decisions that cost us a chance to do much the previous two seasons, but since last July he's gotten most things right and look where we are once again. We honestly haven't missed Stammer for a minute. Only thing that's worse is our power play is at 26.4% instead of 28.6%, but 26% is still well above league average.

Miller-Stamkos-Kucherov was *chef’s kiss* for the 20-ish games we got of it though.
I still have PTSD of Stamkos and Kucherov having so many plays that didn't result in a single shot on goal. I swear to God they were the antithesis of Vinny and Marty. Give them any 2 on 1. There was maybe 1 extra pass sometimes. It was sometimes preceded by a deke on that same defender or another defender starting the 2 on 1. But it always ended with "LMAAOOO gOaL hOrN g0 BRRR!!!!" because both men had it in their minds how the play would finish before even crossing the blue line. There's gotta be at least 5 minutes of highlights of them torturing their opponents. Kucherov and Stamkos would just goof off until the play died

I can't remember 1 time Kucherov and Stamkos made a highlight play that wasn't the 91-timer
