Proposal: Forget a Shakeup. New York Rangers Fire Sale

Where was he for their 2nd goal? Chasing Robertson behind the net! You mean the tying goal with 2:39 left in the game after leading 3-0? The only guy who defended worse was Fox. What the hell have you been watching?

Miller has bottomed out entirely. Looks like attitude and disinterest. Whole organization is toxic so not sure if a 24 year old Dman bounces back elsewhere or if he’s just an entitled part of the problem. Been terrible. Last night was atrocious.

They've got Shesterkin and Fox so that's a fantastic start, but looking at their current roster, their contracts (cost and expiration years), prospect pool, draft picks, etc...And I hoenstly don't know how they fix this.

They're going to have to get lucky again with things like...
  • Having another top UFA(s) want to play there (like Panarin did)
  • Have another top player insist on being traded there (Fox)
  • Win another draft lottery or two (this might require less luck :sarcasm:)

All top FA’s want to play here. The problem is guys like Panarin don’t hit UFA very often

The Fox thing probably won’t happen ever again, that was perfect storm.

Definitely not. NYR really love him. They refused to put him in deals for Eichel & more recently Miller/Pettersson.
I understand why they love him. Fox, Schneider and maybe Mancini and you have your right D covered for years.

If the tailspin continues, this team as Trouba said, was the last kick at the can with this group, is done. Next 3 games are NJ, VGS, CO, all tough outs. Kreider's value is dinged up, Miller is a mess, Laf found his touch after getting paid. But to replace what brought them the prez trophy was a 106 pt Panarin, Kredier's 75 pts if moved, The DJ's 72 pts. Lindgren is a goner, Miller as noted gone by TDL too. The whole D needs to be revamped. Chytil got dinged up again. Attracting players here after the mess this summer with Trouba, Goodrow, letting Ramsey go. Playing under that funny roof only has only so much cache! So yeah, you have a ton paid to Shesty who starts his new contract on a retool at a min, more like a rebuild (that's 3 years gone). Fox who does not look like he is worth half that contract in current state. Drury is tossed when season ends either way. Lavy? Whatever. They can (and probably to piss me off, will) get back in it, but its mid 1990s rangers bad (post cup) right now!

Not to worry. We will have Rantanen, Kaprizov and McDavid leading our line in 2026 😂

Silly @Ciao
setting aside God being absolute is not subject to any subjugation
I am on His team*, so I have the hope He will indulge me from time to time on these things.

Hey, Bern, it's a play on an old but true story about the late Harold Ballard and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After the 1977-78 season, Ballard caught wind that Leafs' management wanted to trade 24 y.o. defenceman Ian Turnbull at his high point, the year after he set records with five goals in one game and 79 points a season, and had also stood out against the New York Islanders in the 1978 playoffs. It was truly his high point -- he never came close to that production again.

The story goes that Ballard blustered into the post-season management meeting and said the the effect "Look, let's get this straight -- I wouldn't trade Ian Turnbull for God!"

Apparently that sucked all the air out of the room because trading Turnbull was exactly what they had hoped to do.

It was said there was a long, silent pause that was only broken when head coach Roger Neilson's diminutive video analyst asked from a corner of the room, "How about God and a second-round draft pick?

Some present struggled to stifle their laughter.

You reminded me of this when you suggested the Rangers trade Fox, and I just wanted to share this.

The mp3 didn't work, but maybe the Rangers will trade Fox, Deo volente.
