Watch this shift from Lemieux in the clinching game of the 1991 SCFs. Draws a penalty on a 5 on 3 with an absurd takeaway, strips another player on the same shift when it is 5 on 4, then goes down and undresses the goalie on a breakaway - all in the same shift. He just had another level offensively and defensively in the playoffs that McDavid, or anyone in history, simply does / did not have. Most talented player of all time:

I'm not an Oiler fan But the game now is way much faster then when Mario and Wayne played the game. The players are strong, skate faster and move the puck faster than back then. So it is hard to compare them. In their time Mario and Wayne were the best. But in this generation Conner is the best, he is so fast with the puck and the moves he makes with his hands are amazing. Oiler need more than just 2 players to win the Cup. And that is all they have 2 players that carry the whole team and in the playoffs 2 players are easy to shut down.

No show for the final game again..."magnificent"!
Ask yourself this question. Would the Oilers be where they are without McDavid? Any knowledgable hockey guy would answer. No, they would not be where they are without McDavid. McDavid is a great captain and he can carry a team. the problem is the Oilers rely on him way too much to carry this team and he simply got wore out by the time the final series came around. It is that simple, you cannot ride one player that hard and expect him to deliver every game. It is just too much and Mcdavid as great as he is cannot do it. The bigger problem with the Oilers is their coach and his stupid consistent pulling of your starting goaltender. it creates a big distraction and a confidence problem with the team. Even Wayne said it. If you haven't figured out who your guy is by the cup finals you have a very big problem. No team has pulled their goaltender like Knb has and won the Cup.

Yeah, that’s a load of BS.

The game is faster because they don’t interfere like they used to… McDavid would look way slower in Mario’s era.

A well rounded team is better than 2 top heavy players...one of them needs to be traded.

Mario is one of the greatest but he wasn't a very fast skater. He knew how to move with the puck but he wasn't able to skat very fast and I bet if you were to ask him, he would tell you that.

Jagr in 2015-16 at the age of 43 was one of the slowest players in the league. Yet still lead a team in scoring, finished 27th in points leaguewide and was one of the best EV producers.

Lemieux was in a different league than Jagr. No doubt in my mind he would still be the clear cut best player if he played today.

Players were stronger in the past.

Not that very many even think that, but one single shift sure as hell isn’t going to change the narrative one way or another

Here’s Darren Helm making a mockery of every player on the Blackhawks as a rookie in the post season. This is my proof he’s one of the greatest players of his generation.
