Going full Ron Hextall is rarely warranted, even if that stick hit Elvis in the cup. The puck was there, didn't look intentional or like a very hard poke (the stick was already extended quite a bit from what I remember). Hard to judge from here of course.

Regardless I agree, full credit to Elvis for letting it go and playing very well in this game overall. Pretty much a 1A goaltending effort in the game if you ask me (yeah the second goal could've been saved but these happen).
True. There were a couple of slashes back and forth that escalated it too.

The 2nd goal also could have been better defended. They just let Kadri walk into that area untouched with nobody near him. The only real defensive flaw of the day I noticed.

Said there's no way he's keeping the moustache for December. Then ended the interview by getting a hold of the mic and saying "I love Ohio, but Go Blue tomorrow". :shakehead ;)
(Jody joined in on the ensuing boos. :) )
Crowd spent the last half of the third doing O-H-I-O cheers. So stupid. I got no problem with Fantilli. We have 4 Wolverines on the roster. What do people expect?

Bruins lost, CBJ in a playoff spot (just a hair above Sabres and Bruins point percentage for last spot).

Thanksgiving and still relevant. I’ll take it. Next goal is New Years and still relevant.

The Ohio cheer is understandable the night before the Game
I remember when Dougie wanted the Wings to play here before every Michigan game
No big deal
I do want more Michigan players on the roster tho

Severson with a quietly effective game. Nothing special but he gets shit for his too-frequent mistakes I thought maybe to give him some credit.
Giving credit for not Fing up. Maybe you do that with a rookie or sophomore but that’s a pretty freaking low bar for a nine year veteran with a seven year big money contract.

Where’s that animated GIF of The Joker slow clapping when I need it.

He's honestly not that bad 95% of the time. The other 5% is an absolute shit show unfortunately.

I've given them their flowers for this before but I'll do it again. I've never had an old teams fans more accurately describe what a players going to be. He's been exactly what devils fans said he is. Slick. Decent shot. Analytical darling. Poops down his leg.

That fight was so weak it really didn't warrant a response. Really should have been roughing except they dropped the gloves.

If we were losing or looked flat, yeah, but we didn't need a spark. Columbus was dominating all game.

That second fight with Olivier didn't even wake up Calgary, and that is what Lomberg was trying to do. Columbus pretty much had this game from the start.
Christiansen was holding on for dear life. Not every fight needs to be to “spark” anything. It was a clear message/response that CBJ players aren’t to be taken advantage of. Not only that, but, we DID get that “spark”, even if it wasn’t needed.

Not sure why you keep looking at it from moreso the Flames POV than the CBJ. Yeah, watching one of your players get their ass kicked because you have nobody else willing to stand up to or able match another opposing player’s intensity, is not going to “spark” or “wake your team up” very much. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make, other than the timing of the original hit/boarding.

I am really impressed with Fabrro and how solid he is defensively.
But across the board I impressed with just about every one but Severson. Before our eyes they are becoming a good, competitive team.

The Severson comment is ridiculous.

After this specific game, or in general, or as you say “across the board”.

My comment is not "ridiculous". It is my comment and my opinion. You don't like it, fine. But your approval is not required for me to state what my opinion about what I have observed.

Just watched the fight again, holding on for dear life is a little much. Pospisil hit his helmet a couple times, but really wasn't much.

It's fine having a guy that can stand up for players, but really, do guys on the other team really back down after stuff like that? Lomberg didn't. He got his ass kicked, but he still went after Olivier trying to spark his guys.

I'm not looking at it from Calgary's view at all. I have seen plenty of games over the years turn on a stupid penalty when a team was in control. The Jackets were controlling all aspects of the game, why even give Calgary incentive to play better. They were so flat during the early part of the game. Had they given him a major on that boarding call, a 5 minute PP could have changed the game and flipped momentum.

Actually, I thought it was dumb going after Christainsen for a clean hit. I could see if it was cheap, but it wasn't. And going at Jake wasn't going to change his game any. If he got another chance to lay someone out, he wasn't going to stop and think, "gee, if I hit this guy I might have someone try to fight me again", he is just going to lay the guy out.

Another reason for optimism with this team is the confidence they're playing with at the end of the game, protecting leads.....remember how they suffered the last couple years with any sort of lead late in the game???
Can finally stop clenching so hard. I was cracking chestnuts

Yes they actually keep pressure on the other team instead of turtling for half a period.
