OT: Football thread (2024 season)

The thought of either team winning makes me want to puke honestly, but obviously the shit-birds winning would suck more.

I honestly don't plan to watch the game. I have projects around the house I've been procrastinating with & I might sneak in a Trader Joe's run after kick off while the rest of the world watching the game.

I was rooting for the Bills in the AFCCG but now that they're in Super Bowl I have no ill will for the Chiefs. I'm bored with them but I don't have any reason to care if they win or lose. This is the easiest decision ever of who to root for. Would be even worse than 2017 or if they won two years ago. The Barkley factor is vomit inducing.

Tom Brady says we overvalue money, yet he's also the same guy who took advantage of the $1M Covid business loan from the government & never paid it back. Classy.
He's also the guy took either $325M or $375M (I get his and Barkley's contracts mixed up) he doesn't need to call games which he's bad at and has an ugly voice, instead of getting a life.

He's become one extremely unlikable dude. I actually had no issue with him until he threw those equipment guys under the bus with Deflategate, then proceeded to smash his phone to hide the evidence, all the while claiming full innocence. That got the ball rolling for me.

Since then, his smugness has been on full display for the past 10 years & to top it all off, his broadcast career, which is bad enough on its own merits, is now severely compromised when he became a minority owner for the Raiders. Having a platform where he can't & won't criticize the officials or any other of the league franchises while working games can only be seen as one giant farce. Completely fitting for this fraud.

His ego is at an insane level.

Not watching tonight. I can't in good faith root for the Eagles and I'm tired of the Chiefs being treated like 2008-2018 Penguins.

Between the poser football fans, the Taylor Swift bird watching, and everyone going to dissect the Halftime Show aka the most overrated musical event of the year (it's all prerecorded backing tracks...every year), yeah no.

The 48 hours post Grammys and the 48 hours post Super Bowl are the two most insufferable periods of the year.

Jets say goodbye to Aaron Rodgers (YEAH)!!! Adams most likely gone as well.

Surprised about Adams only because towards the end of the season the guy produced.

It is amazing how decieving stats can be. I think those stats may be the best a NY Jets QB has ever put up.
Rodgers ended up throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions, very respectable numbers, but the team went just 5-12.

Brady is so obvious. His ego doesn't want Mahomes to win because he thinks of his own legend imo. That was clearly a hands to the guys facemask.

This score bug is not a winner
Came here to say the same. It's like they took the FOX logo's font and used that. It's also unnecessarily large, like we're blind and can't read.

The score bugs from the early 00s were the best IMO, with this one being my favorite. Though I do have some nostalgia for the '96-97 bug, since the NHL used it too.

Snipped from here, cool graphic showing all of the NFL on FOX scorebugs

Everyone is gonna complain because it's the Chiefs but that was an obvious infraction leading directly to a catch.
That is the key point. If the hands to the face never happens then the trip probably does not happen as well. The Eagles get plenty of calls but you are right the focus will be on KC because of comments from Aikman and Brady.

Have to give credit to Philly's management and coaches. Their whole offense is at or near Probowl level. They even have a former Jet tackle playing really well at guard. I think Devanta Smith is very underrated. The Giants wanted him but Philly being Philly traded up ahead of the Giants to grab him despite having traded for AJ Brown.
