Pullmans is fantastic. As is Lola Rosa, but next time you need vegetarian hit up a place called Aux Vivres.

I'm not even a vegan and that's one of my top go-to places.

If you like greasy spoon style breakfasts, you must try Cosmo's on Sherbrooke St. West, close to the corner of Draper. It's a tiny place, so pretty much full at all times. IMHO, their 'Creation' is the best breakfast sandwich around. Also, if you're not counting calories or cholesterol, go for a mish mash. It is the best place to eat after experiencing the Montreal nightlife.

They're even famous enough to have a documentary made about the original owner. It is called: Man from Grease.

Montreal is the food capital of the world. Is say Copenhagen, NO, Vancouver, Tokyo and a few others are close runner ups. Montreal is great, not because you can find poutine joints on every street corner, its great because theres probably the most variety in thr whole world and the quality is top class.
I loved my time in Montreal, but NYC is easily a better food city than Montreal. This shouldn't be a debate.

You do have better bagels than us, though. I'd probably be crucified in NY saying that, but it's true. Your bagels are better but your pastrami doesn't come close.

You probably know placdes vast majority don't, same for Montrealers when it comes to their city.

Don’t forget to drop by Les Givrés for the best ice cream in town :sarcasm:
It really is tho haha.
For the poutine side of stuff I’m gonna have to go with PatatiPatata on Rachel/St Laurent or even Frite Alors before the aforementioned places. Shredded cheese should be illegal.

Sadly Céline Dion and her gang are ruining Schwart's.

Next to it there is a great Portuguese chicken sandwich place called Coco Rico and a little further down the street is an amazing steak house called Moishe's.

There are much better options than poutineville in Montreal. Frites Alors>>> PoutineVille IMO (when talking about chains)

NYC is like 3 times the size of Montreal with 10 times the population. You aren't going to find any Michelin Star Restaurants in Montreal.

That said, the Pizza in Montreal>>>>>>>NYC Pizza and it's not even close.

Another vote for PatatiPatata. Very nice place for takeout (there's like 3 tables and a counter inside).

Shredded cheese should be illegal.

Let's make America grate again!!

that's because Michelin guide doesn't even come to Canada

even in the US it's just SF, Chicago, NY and DC

that's not to say there aren't any michelin star caliber restaurant in Montreal, because there certainly are

Was gonna say, go to the casino and tell me L'Atelier doesn't serve Michelin-star quality food.

Speaking of which, the casino is also a great place for a brunch buffet.

The Michelin people don't consider Canada? That seems really odd. There are Michelin starred restaurants all over Japan but Canada doesn't get consideration?

There aren't any in Australia either, which is well reknown for its cuisine.

Countries with Michelin Stars restaurants are those in western/northern Europe, the US (and even then, it's just Chicago, San Francisco, New York and apparently Washington), Brazil (just Rio), and a very few places in southeast asia (Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapour I think, and a few cities in Japan, maybe a few other cities as it wouldn't surprise me if there are some in Shanghai, Beijing or Seoul).
And fun fact : Street vendors are starting to get Michelin Stars in southeast Asia.

Basically, the places where there are Michelin rated restaurants are places that have a dedicated Michelin hotel/restaurant guide as far as I know.

Sure. Still is rather odd to me that Japan has 34 Three Michelin Star rated restaurants (way more than a few) and Canada has none. Australia is a good spot by you also. Michelin need to get their stuff together.

Apologies for leading OT

As much as I love this city I can't help it but laugh at the bolded statement.

Have you traveled much to make such a blanket remark?

Cosmo's has been closed for a long time now, hasn't it?
