Forberg extreme competetive desires leave him a threat to himself. Being a die-hard Flyers fan, I'd love to see him healthy enough to help the Philadelphia Flyers and to go to Turin to help Sweden in the Olympics.

Unfortantely, I think he needs to rest as he has a commitment in the way of 5.7 million dollars from the Flyers and he owes it to them to be healthy and ready to play as soon as he can.

I hope he makes the right decision which ever it may be.

Unfortantely, I think he needs to rest as he has a commitment in the way of 7 million dollars from the Flyers and he owes it to them to be healthy and ready to play as soon as he can.

5.7 million. He has already made his decision. :handclap:

besides there is plenty of time to rest until playoffs after olympics.

Hey............I hope he plays in the Olympic too. I just hope he doesn't keep aggravating the groin no matter where he plays.

Know what I mean :dunno:

No offense, but he doesn't owe anything to the Flyers. The Flyers signed him after the NHL and NHLPA had already agreed to the Olympics and made it a part of the new CBA. If anything, the Olympics are owed to him.

Additionally, if he owes anything, isn't it to his country? Again, no offense, but I wish people would quit being so selfish and realize the extreme honor of representing your country. So what if it's maybe not the best thing for his body; I'd never try to take the Olympics away from anybody. If a player wants to go, he should go, and not snub the homeland that's counting on him just because of pressure from some suits who couldn't care less what it means to him or his countrymen.

Yeah I know what you mean. And we all, naturally, hope that he does not get injured again. But he should go if he feels he can help the team, even if he happened to get injured in the games. It is a slight risk, but it is also a risk they are allowed to take.

My hat's off to Foppa, that's the spirit. He knows his worth and is not intimitated by GM or coach. He knows they can do nothing.

From following whats been said in the Philadelphia press, and the snippets I have read on these boards from Swedish hockey fans, it seems and the Swedish media blew this whole thing way out of proportion. Certainly Bobby Clarke was not happy to see Forsberg play in the Olympics while missing so many NHL games due to injury. Who wouldnt be? But all this crap about trying to force him to not go, or going off on deranged rants in the end turned out to be sports writers sensationalizing a story to sell more newspapers.

Yeah it kinda blows that whole "Clarke is trying to screw over Sweden to improve Canada's chances" theory out of the water. :)

Why do people keep bringning up his salary and saying how he owns to the Flyers. He doesn't owe them anything.

This is not against you but many fans are litttle bit too selfish and many of them don't understand the true value of the Olympic games!

As I mentioned in other threads, the this is an NHL-NHLPA-IIHF tournament (ie, not IIHF only). The NHL has made a coporate decision to suspend it's season and go to the Olympics (to showcase it's game to a global audience). These 2 reasons are why it is just as important to play in the Olypmics this season as well as the NHL.

If Forsberg is healthy enough when the tournament starts, he should play.

I'm glad someone put the reins on Bob Clarke on this one!

I don't knwo what your problem is but ed sneider has gone out in the philly newspapers in the past that he dont want to see forsberg in olympics. It's NOT something we made up. Just check philly.com

Can you blame him? Forsberg is made of glass. Snider paid big bucks to bring Forsberg to Philly to win a cup this season. If Foppa gets hurt and can't play in the playoffs, the whole season becomes a write off

Of course Philly wants Foppa to rest, but whether he goes or not is up to Foppa and only him.

I think Clarke just wanted Forsberg to stay home if he was still having problems. It is understandable they don't want Forsberg to play semi-injured (like last World Cup) possibly making it worse.

Forsberg has said he feel healthy except for the groin injury he currently has got. It seem to be healing up well (like his left leg did) and if he doesn't get any other injury he should be just fine. So I don't worry too much about it any longer.

As already said in other previous threads:
Snider already knew that Forsberg is made of glass and was going to take part to the Olympics when they decided to offer him big bucks, so yes, we can blame him. :p:

Foppa jutst pulled out of practice today. The goal waa five days not pain and only little soreness allowed. Hes dont till Olympics and now seems like during Olympics too(hopefully)
