I wish he had that drive.
Not many players do but Mikko can atleast show that he cares. Hes giving me Draisaitl vibes right now. Leon started the season not giving a f*** and in alot of ways he still is. Last night was the first time I seen that German move and skate like Hamas had his parents. Mikko needs to just start exerting his size and strength on people.

Maybe Sakic should have stayed as the GM. Can’t underestimate the popularity and respect factor when Sakic called to make deals vs CMac.
Avs motto has always been to take risks and buy low on talent players. Sometimes it just doesn't work out as it did with this move. It's okay, but what's more frustrating is that there have been games where Colton looks great, Wood looks great, Drouin looks great, MacKinnon looks great, RyJo looks great, and others, but it isn't coming every night. Drouin looks great for two games and is invisible for the next 9. MacKinnon looks great for 3-4 and disappears for the next 7. Over and over again with everyone else. Huge time consistency issues so far this season.

I think the biggest elephant in the room right now is the PP. We're not scoring a lot and the PP is the biggest reason why.

The second biggest elephant is how we play while trailing.Teams are feasting on us when they get any type of lead. Breakdown after breakdown isn't how you win games. Our D is pinching too much while trailing. There's no point in doing that when the game is close on the second. Those types of risky plays should be saved for the last 10 minutes of the 3rd. It doesn't matter who's in net if you're giving up that many odd man rushes.
I personally don’t care much about the PP. it’ll level out with the talent here and when we are talking about playoff success, 5v5 matters so much more. I’m terrified at how bad the Avs are at simple defending in space.

Seriously. We've all seen Rants take over a game and become Jagr-Rants before. He has it in him. Or he did at least, once upon a time.

LOC is playing great IMO
I hate to be this guy, but that's great.

So 29 and a 3rd liner who isn't expected to be a point producer are playing well.

I mean I'm happy LOC is playing well but we need our top guys other than 29 to figure their shit out.

You’re being generous on 3rd liner. We’ve seen this story in LOC before… when he’s overplayed, he will disappear as the season goes on… and he’s being overplayed like he never has before.

Ok. I don't recall saying LOC could carry the team, just that there was at least 1 more guy playing well.

The team sucks.

The Avs desperately need a 2nd line. Bednar doesn’t know what to do right now because the RyJo experiment hasn’t worked out. He’s blending lines trying to find some consistency, but without a legit 2C, it’s hard to do. I was very optimistic thinking RyJo would make a good 2C, but with each game, that experiment is less and less likely to work.

Can’t really rely on 3rd and 4th lines to carry you every game along with MacK. I don’t know how or when, but this team needs to find a true 2nd line center. That’s the #1 thing they need right now

The defensive issues are deep. At one point in the first Toews was getting chased behind the goal line by a lone forechecker. He kept the puck for as long as he could but no teammate helped him, he ended up passing the puck to Drouin who was already under pressure and in a bad spot (in the slot). Drouin turned it over immediately and the Avs got lucky that the Flyers didn't score there.

That's on the other players on the ice to offer passing lanes to the dmen. It's just an example but it's all over the ice. They don't play well as an unit.

This issue is present everywhere for the Avs right now. It feels like the majority of time it’s one guy trying to make a play (offensively or defensively) and 4 guys that are standing around not providing any sort of support

The RyJo experiment has to be coming to a head. Clearly Bednar can't stand how the guy plays.
3 or 4 games ago when someone asked Bednar about ice time Bednar replied that there's nothing to say that RyJo should play more than Colton.

Not the kind of shit that you say when you have a 2C and a 3C. That alone was a big clue.

Makes you wonder, once again, what CMac saw to make the move. Yes he was free and half price cap hit but there is a reason for that

Avs honestly would be better off with 4M in cap space.
I don’t think there was anything to see… it was do you think he can rebound and play like he’s 26 again? Avs took that risk and it just isn’t there. The cheap route at center has to come to and end.

I know burnout is a thing. Are we there yet? Our top guys have been getting their shit pushed in on a nightly basis lately and tonight was no different.
