If we Hak would replace VdV with Cousins that would probable be our best lineup option. Bellemare-Cousins-Lyubimov

I'm a big cousins fan but a 4th of 78-25-13 isn't ideal for the way Hak wants to play. I think 10-25-22 then 24-78-13 is a more ideal line up.

PEB, Lyu and VdV are getting a lot of crap on here for no reason as of late. They have been playing well against tough comp

They get crushed in possesion and often have been bailed out by Mason.

Belly did a good job on McDavid though.

When Manning gets traded to Calgary for a 7th.

I know you are just messing with Manning/BoxCar but I thought Manning played really well against Dallas with Ghost. MacDonald always tried to do too much when playing with Ghost and made him look like a dumpster fire. Manning just seems to make good simple clean plays.

But he got Ghost hurt. If Ghost is out with MacDonald then the puck is probably in the net so its not going to be flying through the air and hitting him in the hand. :sarcasm:

Cousins had a decent game.
But I haven't seen much from Leier that tells me he can be a Read replacement next season. He doesn't seem to have any outstanding attributes at the NHL level other than his speed.

Why does the bar have to be set at Read? If he can factor in on the fourth line going foward that's a positive. That line overall was pretty solid tonight as they were low event for the most part.

Because many lineup projections for next season had Leier in Read's spot and someone will have to replace him if we don't keep him and right now I don't see anyone.

I imagine if Read is gone the Flyers will be something like:

Raffl -- Giroux -- Voracek
Konecny -- Couturier -- Simmonds
Lindblom -- Cousins -- Schenn
Leier/Lyubimov -- Laughton -- Weise

Though ofc Cousins or Laughton could be gone... and I do think the Flyers get a C from somewhere before next season.

Well there's still Oskar Lindblom who's a higher end prospect who's close to the NHL. If him & Leier can legitimately factor in maybe you don't replace Read individually but you improve by committee.

I really don't want Read gone, he was pulling third line all by himself before injury. Last year when we had good possession third line, I bet it wasn't Laughton or Cousins who were driving the play.

But you have to remember that we haven't seen much of Leier, period. The fact that we have already noticed his speed is pretty good considering how limited our views of him have been. Unless you mean you have been watching the Phantoms, because I'm not able to do that and have no idea what those games show about him.

All the lines are in a bit of disarray right now. Problem is when we get healthier, Leier is going back to LV, so we won't see him among the healthy group.

I've officially checked out on Gordon. At least Weise is a functional player now.

I don't like Schenn at C, but unless VDV or Lyu gets scratched for Cousins, I see Schenn as 3C moving forward this year

Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Konency-Couts-Simmer
Read-Schenn-Weise
VDV-PEB-Lyu

Just did some maths.

The Flyers likely need 55 points from their last 51 games to make playoffs.

Since Hakstol has taken over the Flyers have played 70x 51 game stretches including playoffs.

The minimum number of points they have got in any stretch is 53... and in the 70 stretches they have had less than 55 points only 5 times:

Here is the breakdown of the stretches:

2x53pts
3x54pts
4x55pts
1x56pts
2x57pts
7x58pts
15x59pts
8x60pts
5x61pts
4X62pts
7x63pts
9x64pts
1x65pts
1x66pts

They have got 64+ points more than double the amount of times they have been below 55.

I don't understand. How could Hasktol have overseen 70 51-game stretches? That's decades' worth of games.

Also, next season the team has the potential to be so young:

Raffl (28) -- Giroux (29) -- Voracek (28)
Konecny (20) -- Couturier (24) -- Simmonds (29)
Lindblom (21) -- Cousins (24) -- Schenn (26)
Leier (23) -- Laughton (23) -- Weise (29)
Lyubimov (25)

Provorov (20) -- Gudas (27)
Morin (22) -- Gostisbehere (24)
Sanheim (21) -- MacDonald (31)

Mason (29)
Stolarz (23)

That would make an average age of just over 25.

The youngest team to start this season was 25.5.

Ofc we don't know if Read will still be here... and maybe they re-sign MDZ and go after an older center... but still, should be one of youngest in the league either way.
