They were just talking about this on the broadcast. Cechmanek was a bit of a surprise because he was only there three years.

But great numbers. Why was he traded to the Kings and why did he only last one more season?

I'd consider Carter over Richards, but that's a tough call. Carter scored more but Richards offered more off the scoreboard, and I'm not even an intangibles guy.

And yeah, agree with the people saying Mason ahead of the other goalies.

I think we're about 2-3 years shy of Konecny and Sanheim taking spots on the all-2000s team, mainly because their usage wasn't optimized until last year.

All other things being equal, I think my QC teams are

Gagne-Giroux-Voracek
Desjardins-Timonen
Mason

Richards-Couturier-Briere
Pronger-Coburn
Cechmanek

I wanted to find space for Primeau, I could see him in there for either Richards or Briere, but I think I'll leave it. I'm fairly sure Boucher was put in there because he's with the team now, so we're fixing that.

I put Richards over Carter entirely based on The Shift. Rarely does a player summarize all that they are so succinctly.

I have Mason as 1 and Boosh as 2. For vibes.

Boosh is THE backup of that time period so it fits

Was Boosh the backup for Esche during the 04 run?

I think as a player Richards was more influential than Carter. Carter also had good numbers, but Richards was able to set the tone of an entire game. His willingness to be physical and put his body on the line even though he was one of the smaller players must have inspired his teammates.

I’d go with:
FIRST TEAM
G-Roman Cechmanek
D-Kimmo Timonen
D-Eric Desjardins
LW-Simon Gagne
C-Claude Giroux
RW-Jakub Voracek

SECOND TEAM
G-Brian Boucher
D-Chris Pronger
D-Braydon Coburn
LW-Scott Hartnell
C-Sean Couturier
RW-Travis Konecny

Goal was tough, as most of them were garbage. 2nd team RW was tough too and before this season it would have been between Simmonds & Knuble, but TK, at least IMO, has recently passed them both.

Lastly, compared to a Flyers team of 1975-2000, this group, beyond Giroux, Desjardins and Kimmo, is

Feels weird saying this, but that forth defender after the obvious three probably should be Mark Streit.
I always forget about Streit. He was good, he just had the misfortune of his time in Philly coinciding with the start of the decade-plus of mediocrity (obviously not his fault). Plus we would've never gotten Ghostmania if Streit hadn't sacrificed his manhood.

I originally understood it as any player who has played at least 1 game in that time span is eligible. Is that actually the case?

Optics be damned, you gotta consider Lindros, Recchi and LeClair.
