Torts said we had a "dead building"
Not sure why we should care what Torts thinks anymore. Attendance looked soft tonight but it was also a midweek game and I assume C-Bus got snow just like we did up near Mansfield. Thought about getting tix to the game but glad I didn't because I wouldn't have wanted to drive tonight.

If I’m not mistaken Z is now leading the D points race? Or at least tied?
Z has 15 Goals and 50 Points. Makar has 13 Goals and 50 Points. Makar has played one more game than Z. Quinn Hughes has only played 39 games and leads in PPG.

my girlfriend and I went to tonight’s game. we had gone to 2 previous together this year, in those two games we scored 3 goals and lost both (minny, and winnipeg) so tonight felt extra good to win. after the game, we got to meet denton and take a pic with him. a very stone faced kid lol. as far as the torts comment goes… the building was intact dead until late in the 3rd period. even after we scored our first goal, the building went quiet quickly. out of the 60 some home games i’ve been to, that was easily a top 3 quietest game.

this team is so damn fun.

I got to see Tarasov win in person in cleveland on saturday and then win tonight in columbus.

it was a great last 4 days for my girlfriend and I when it comes to this beautiful sport of Hockey.

I guess once again I'll be the one pumping the breaks on Mateychuk hype...

The data he's selected to push his perception makes it seem like he's a bit guilty of cherry-picking there. If we look at xGA/60 numbers of all dmen since Mateychuk's callup (12/23/24-1/15/25, 10 games, TOI >90min), he's been third best of the Jackets D at 5v5, and 58th league-wide.

2.05 Christiansen
2.16 Provorov
2.21 Mateychuk
2.40 Severson
2.51 Werenski
2.76 Fabbro

That said, I'm very impressed how he's grown defensively since the draft, and even though I think there still might be some smaller details that could be better, mentioning them would be unimportant nitpicking compared to the puck handling issues. Great at defending but not elite.

Provorov squandered a lot of chances tonight. People are getting on Severson for not finishing, but he was at least creating and getting close. Provorov doesn't have the vision to create. If he can't see a pass, he's got to at least fire the puck on net.

Nah man, idk about you but I personally loved when he skated the puck around the net and ran into Kent Johnson (who for minutes had his stick raised for a one-timer)!

Provorov was one of the guys giving me major Jack Roslovic skating for the sake of skating vibes last night. Sadly, there was a shift where LDBB did too.

Also, I thought that we struggled with zone entries more than usual.

We looked a little too much like last year’s Jackets, at least offensively, but glad we pulled out the win.

We’ve really struggled against the flyers this year. Hopefully just a bad game against a frustrating opponent

Agree that NWA was flat last night. We could hear the players and officials clearly from our club seats. It reminded me of watching a practice.
I love Torts, my favorite CBJ coach though Evason may be challenging that. Torts complained the other day that arenas are too loud during time outs when he just wants to talk/settle his team. He said coaches end up shouting over the music/contests, etc and it defeats the intent to calm.

I just found it funny these 2 comments were made so close.

Torts is pretty good at deflecting attention to where he wants it

That second goal was super weak, but I'll give Tarry his flowers here. He played great.

Severson has been worlds better defensively too. He's gotten the message. Yeah he flubbed that backhand but we arent worried about his offense.

Thought KJ was awesome in the shootout but seemed to lose a ton of battles today. Playing a Torts team is so tough. I've been a Provorov apologist all season but he does not handle overtime well.

Sign Oliver.

Bring on Macklin.
I’m with you on Provorov in OT. His game just doesn’t seem to fit 3 on 3 hockey.

Yes we have not figured out how to solve teams that play us a certain way. What was different about last night was we figured out a way to win anyway. But yeah there was a lot of what do I do now going on.

Oh and eff Torts about the building. Even if he's right, and even if we thought he was great here, eff him and his BS commentary. Especially since his team plays in such a way as to suppress anything happening at all that might get a crowd interested.

You'd also think that a quiet road environment would be a benefit to his team, and they still lost. Suckas

It was.

Lots of empty seats combined with an extremely boring game until about 5 minutes to go. The pace of play for most of the game was like watching paint dry.
i mean… it was five degrees outside, literally just walking to the arena after parking was miserable. also a tuesday night against a shitty team. so not exactly a packed building to begin with.

the place erupted for both werenski goals, olivier's big hits, and the big werenski chance in overtime. and everyone was on their feet for the shootout.

it wasn't a "dead building" overall but the elements weren't exactly there for it to be a rowdy crowd.
