GDT: Flyers @ Jackets | NWA | 7pm

With the recent downtime it got me thinking...what's our/your backup plan? If HF suddenly disappears one night, do I.. go to Reddit? Where will you go?
Several of us are definitely active on reddit. I know Indy is for sure, and I strongly suspect S1N4TR4 (apologies for butchering) based on what I've seen in both places. r/bluejackets conversation happens at a very different pace from how it happens here, but it's just different not better or worse. I get different things from each place.

I am also active in the hf board GM Games discord, but I'm the only Jackets fan there (although we've got a Cincy-based Stars fan who stans Marchenko and an Oilers fan who's been following us all season out of curiosity).

Sorry for the dumb question but what are Live Threads?

Our next nine games are Flyers and Sharks @ home, Rangers and Isles in NY, then Leafs and Canes back to back on the road, Kings at home and then Knights and Utah back to back on the road. The first half of that stretch seems like the far more winnable games plus they are mostly in our division looking up at us and the back half is pretty brutal. Maybe it's not a must-win but thinking we need six points out of the first four games if we want this nine game stretch to seem like we came out OK.
You're saying this game is critical?

Thanks - I'll start more actively lurking on r/bluejackets so if I'm ready JIC the worst happens. I need my fix!

Meet out front of the arena at 10:35 am GMT on the first day beginning with a T after the next new moon following the site's demise and we'll all head down to the secret passages under the city where I currently post from and figure out what to do next.

OK you better be there

No dumb questions.

Live threads are when you post (usually in GDTs) and rather than your browser refreshing the page, it just instantly posts. It’s a lot easier to see reactions in real time and get your posts out faster.
Actually did not know there was a difference. Thanks.

Also, first time in a while we're on GDT page 2 before the puck has dropped.

Flyers won against Florida last night after Florida was already leading 2-0. They're probably feeling good. Hopefully too good, but I'm not counting on that...

I've been on reddit forever. Be aware that cbj reddit doesn't really work for seeing a diversity of views. They vigorously downvote and it creates a lot more groupthink. You wouldn't see anything critical of Jarmo's decisions until nearing the very end. Also a disturbing misuse of the English language, like "thank f*** for Chinakhov. I'm rock hard for Chinny". That sort of boyish thing gets upvoted to the top regularly.

I do like some of the long form analysis there and there's good updates with pictures of players from instagram and whatnot. I just don't think it remotely covers what we have here.

Here’s a dumb question, what’s Reddit 😉. In all seriousness, I don’t have the time or patience to be on multiple platforms, if HF went away I’d be starting from scratch finding someplace else.

That’s how I found this place many moons ago. The OBR which is a Browns forum had set yup a board just for CBJ fans but it started dying and I went looking elsewhere and found here.

I actually think it’d be nice to have an agreed upon place to meet if something happened. Would hate to think I have to break in all new CBJ posters someplace else.

^^ Yeah jokes aside, any game against a rival who's pretty much in the same situation in the standings, and in the same conference, is very critical.

Appreciate y'all here.

I don’t even know the backstory to ‘critical’ games but I understand it’s an ongoing joke. But in all seriousness, if we want to be playing relevant games after the 4 Nations break then this four game stretch starting tonight is pretty critical.
That's a story for post-demise underground tunnels.

Or if you want to PM me here.

I popped over into the Flyers GDT to see what they are saying (I never post in other team's GDTs). But there is always that one poster in every GDT that leaves me thinking: "tell me you haven't seen the CBJ play this year without telling me you haven't seen the CBJ play this year".

Is there reason to be concerned about the longevity of HF, or just questions based on the current migration?

I am on CBJ reddit as well, but I definitely prefer HF by a mile. As others have said, there's a lot of more childish themes, plus it's way easier to remember posters on here than on Reddit. I find the discussion here to be much more educated and enjoyable, at least for me. I get the vibe that most people on reddit are relatively new fans or less generally into hockey than people on here are. Plus, so many folks on here have been around for ages at this point it would be a shame to suddenly lose that community.

I don’t really have the patience for the Reddit crowd there like someone else said so HF has been my only home. Lots of good folks have come and gone (and I more casually post) but there is still some sense of community/family (including the argumentative family members haha). Wouldn’t know where I might end up if HF ever goes away.

On the game, hopefully we don’t blow a game trying to make Tarasov stick. Bad goaltending is driving on deflated tires

I’m never on 1st Battery but I’ve glanced at 1st Battery forum. It looks pretty dead. Is it anything our current CBJ HF Boards fans could “take over” to continue these discussions?
