Friedman: Flyers interested in Nicolas Hague

Hague is definitely a guy who could do well in a bigger role. He's paid his dues with 300+ games but the Knights always had guys above him in the depth chart.

Flyers need help on D. Hague wants to start making money. Makes a ton of sense.
Agreed. He’s been on the best blueline in the league but would be a solid middle pair guy on virtually every other team in the league. Every team needs a couple guys like him

I don’t see a spot for him unless the Flyers are trying to move out someone else.

I also don’t understand why.
Yeah, way too many bodies competing for spots unless they bump Zamula down to the minors. If they’re worried about Risto not being able to start the season I’d almost rather see them give McDonald a look as a ‘big dude’ replacement rather than spend assets for Hague. They’re not competing any time soon.

Anyone Vegas uses to replace him will cost more for the same production if found in UFA. If they replace with an ELC it won’t be as bad.

Not sure why there's so much antagonism towards acquiring Hague from Flyers fans.

He's pretty decent. Hasn't been able to prove he's a top 4 D due to the Knights insane depth on defense, but he's been solid.

I wonder if something based around Hague for Tippett could work for both teams.

Oh yeah. I remember them from the 80s where Kool Aid dude would jump out of the wall like that but I think they go as far back as the mid to late 60
I guess the youtube algorithm read this conversation because I got recommended this video on youtube

It's less about Hague himself, and more about our understanding of what the Flyers' front office values, and why. The only analytics they seem to care about are feet, inches, and pounds, and after the sheer number of terrible decisions they've made on that basis, we start to assume the worst of any decision made on that basis.
