  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.

Really excited to see the next f***ing stupid team to hire Torts.
This is really interesting coming from a Jackets fan. Especially considering he took a heavily underdog Blue Jackets team in 2019 and swept the Tampa Bay Lightning in what was a major upset and dominant performance. This was right before the lighting went on to win 2 consecutive cups.

He didn't seem into it AND the players looked checked out. This is without getting into roster construction, which is on management. Should be an interesting summer for the Flyers.

And yet he's been the coach of some pretty good teams and has yet to win it all again since 2004.

I’ve always been pretty anti-Torts. The sweep was his crowning achievement no doubt, but at a time where the Jackets had a ton of talent and depth, it was painfully obvious that they were never going to do anything truly of note beyond that as long as Torts was coaching. I also blame him for losing to the Bruins directly after the sweep. After the Jackets were leading the series 2-1 he came out and said they were making some strategy changes away from what they did vs Tampa. They promptly lost 3 straight and looked horrible compared to the previous 7 playoff games. It was working in the Bruins series too given they were leading the series, no idea why he thought they needed to pivot. It killed the series and that was the final straw in my already anti-Torts eyes.

Some Jackets fans may disagree with me, but after he pulled this same exact shit in his last year with us, I’m staunch in my opinion. Essentially quit on the team. IMO, he sucks as a coach nowadays. The game passed him by ages ago and I can’t believe another team hired him after CBJ and really hope no team is dumb enough to do it again. I laughed my ass off when the Flyers hired him and it turned out exactly how I expected. That all said, Torts is also clearly a good guy and outside of direct coaching results nobody should shit on him thinking he’s a douche- he’s not.

I wonder if Rick Tocchet is going to leave Vancouver to go to Philadelphia in the off-season.
I have made the odds on that and sent them to Vegas... Zero percent .. zero.

He is already wondering if he should extend in Vancouver because he is doubtful that team is made of winners ... The Flyers are facing a 5 year rebuild at this point. That will go to a caretaker or young coach looking for a chance.

Would you leave that rebuild to Briere and Jones? I wouldn't.
