In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord ServerThis is really interesting coming from a Jackets fan. Especially considering he took a heavily underdog Blue Jackets team in 2019 and swept the Tampa Bay Lightning in what was a major upset and dominant performance. This was right before the lighting went on to win 2 consecutive cups.Really excited to see the next f***ing stupid team to hire Torts.
Alot of veteran guys still having success thoughThe league is slowly losing the dinosaur approach to coaching.
Next stop.. Nashville? Not surprising. He’s a great guy and a great coach. He’s better suited with a veteran team ready to compete rather than a rebuilding situation. Probably best for both Torts and Phillys interests to part ways
As a fan of the team that potentially holds your 1st round pick next year, I endorse this comment. Please come back to the Rangers
I wonder if Rick Tocchet is going to leave Vancouver to go to Philadelphia in the off-season.
And yet he's been the coach of some pretty good teams and has yet to win it all again since 2004.This is really interesting coming from a Jackets fan. LeBrunLol.. listening to NHL radio this morning and they were just talking about how the Flyers brass and Torts were in lockstep and how he was involved in everything... so much for that...
I’ve always been pretty anti-Torts. The sweep was his crowning achievement no doubt, but at a time where the Jackets had a ton of talent and depth, it was painfully obvious that they were never going to do anything truly of note beyond that as long as Torts was coaching. I also blame him for losing to the Bruins directly after the sweep. After the Jackets were leading the series 2-1 he came out and said they were making some strategy changes away from what they did vs Tampa. They promptly lost 3 straight and looked horrible compared to the previous 7 playoff games. It was working in the Bruins series too given they were leading the series, no idea why he thought they needed to pivot. It killed the series and that was the final straw in my already anti-Torts eyes. This is really interesting coming from a Jackets fan. I have made the odds on that and sent them to Vegas... Zero percent .. zero.I wonder if Rick Tocchet is going to leave Vancouver to go to Philadelphia in the off-season.
Hopefully Rocky Thompson also gets fired into the sun.
Brad Shaw is a great d coach though. Hope they keep him around, (just not as the HC).
It begs the question, how many well run franchises are there in the NHL? Maybe 5?Was he worth it, Philly?
What a hopeless bunch of idiots in that front office.
