Shawn's internal thoughts: Why in loving Mother of Nature did we take another right winger? And he's another small guy too? What are we doing??? Am I trapped in some sort of alternate timeline where we are run by 25 people who are just doing this for giggles and memes? Am I in the Matrix? I know the fourth movie came out last year and sucked but still? Did I eat the red and blue pill? When?? I feel like I'm Gordon Ramsay watching stupid people cook.

*The camera flashes to Stevie Y still singing*

Stevie Y: Clowns to the left of me. Jokers to the right. Here I am stuck in the middle with you. Yes you Shawn. Look at you.

*Shawn lifts up his head after hearing his Boss ridicule him*

Shawn: Boss this draft is a disaster. The fans. Especially those fans on HF Boards, they're gonna tear you a new one Boss.

Stevie Y: Pffffttttt. Who cares what a bunch of internet people think. It's not like they have an power to fire me. That's up to ownership and they don't care as long as they're collecting their pizza money and #Meijer money. #Ad.

Shawn: Boss but but...

Stevie Y: But nothing. I got enough charm to get through anything.

cut.jpg

Shawn: Whatever you say Boss. You're the captain of this ship. Hopefully we keep afloat. Anyway there's been a small run on goalies. Do we ignore the color coded spreadsheet?

*Stevie Y bangs his right fist on the table*

Stevie Y: That right there! That right there is why we sometimes pay you Shawn. I was just about to suggest we go goalie. Cause maybe we should've taken that Swedish goalie last year instead of the Canadian kid we took. Anyways I'm feeling that good ol' American spirit with this goalie pick.

*Stevie Y leans into the microphone*

Stevie Y: The Detroit Red Wings select from the National Team Development Program, Tyler Muszelik.

Carrie Underwood and David Poile ascend the steps to the drafting podium.

“How-DEEE, MawnTREEALLLLL!!!! It’s mighty nice being here for this here NHL draft, and I’m pleased as peaches to be representing the Nashville Predators. I am especially thrilled to have another of my special guests join David and me up here and announce our next selection. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, let’s give a big Nash – I mean, Mawntreealll welcome to MR. RANDY TRAVIS!!

A smattering of light applause somewhat fills the Bell Centre, as Randy Travis walks up to the stage wearing a Predators jersey and 10-gallon hat.

“Thank you, Carrie, for bringing me up here as an honorary member of the … uhh, Nashville, … dangit, what is this team called again?”

David Poile leans over and whispers, “The Nashville Predators.”

“Right, the Nashville Pardners are plenty pleased to …”

“The Nashville PRED-ators.”

“Come again?”

“The NASHVILLE PREDATORS! Just read your cue card!”

“Oh, right. Well then … Carrie, if I said I knew the name of the next player to join the Predators’ family, you’d … oh Lord … say …”

“Why, Randy, I would say I told you so.”

“Right, so the Nashville Predators are happy to choose, from … wait, this guy’s a Russkie. Well, tarnation, I ain’t standing up here to welcome any Russki to anything.”

Randy Travis walks off the stage. David Poile quickly takes the mic.

“From Chaika Nizhny Novgorod of the MHL, the Predators are pleased to select defenseman Alexander Pelevin.”

“Bye for now, y’all. Cussin’ muffins, I’d better go and apologize to Randy.”

Dallas and @Ernest95 are now on the clock.

Here we have a guy who parents loved their surname so much that they gave it to their son. Or maybe it was the other way around as it is a traditional Czech name. At any rate, in the 4th round, 115th overall, drafted by the Los Angeles Kings is 6'4" forward out of HC Plzen: Marcel Marcel

Montreal adds another two-first-names player by selecting Jackson Edward, who we feel has lots of untapped potential.

The Canadiens still have the floor for the 122nd pick. We figured it was about time we selected a goalie, so Nolan Lalonde, come on down.

I could say he's unavailable but it would be a lie and I'm only saying it because he's on my list.

Go on, pick him.

Sorry @Ghosts Beer but show must go on.

Columbus selects defenceman Michael Fisher from St. Mark's School.

Coincidentally already third CBJ fake draft pick who will play for Northeastern Huskies next season, alongside Jack Hughes and Cam Lund. Talk about synergies!

Shawn's internal monologue: Why did I read some of the online comments on HF Boards? That Red Wings board is so damn brutal. They're practically seething with rage through the Internet. I might end up with trauma from this draft. We need to stop taking small players who clearly can't hold up in the NHL. Where are the big bodies that can dish out hits?? What's Boss doing??

*The camera focuses in on a smug Stevie Y who is still singing to himself*

Stevie Y: It's so hard to keep this smile on my face. Losing control, yeah I'm all over the place. Shawn!!!!!!!!

Shawn: Boss?!? What's the issue?

Stevie Y: There's a big issue Shawn. We need more forwards! Our team is slacking on the centre depth. What's the spreadsheet say?

*Shawn looks down at his copy of the color coded spreadsheet*

Shawn: Not good Boss. Apparently the next couple of lads on our list are left handed defencemen.

Stevie Y: Understandable. We still need to take some shots on defencemen at the end of this draft. Who's the next forward?

Shawn: Uhhhhhh. It's another lad under 6 feet.

Stevie Y: Hmmm sounds tempting. This lad is pretty solidly built too. We do need a Brayden Point selection for this Red Wings franchise. A middle round pick that develops into a 2nd line centre is huge for our franchise. This Larkin lad can't do it all by himself. All right let's calm down on the dreaming. This is just another dart throw.

*Stevie Y leans into the microphone*

Stevie Y: The Detroit Red Wings select from Victoria of the WHL, Brayden Schuurman.
