Habs are playing a great game against a non playoff team, Pleks has scored and Max is roughing things up?

Are we in the twilight zone?

Weber might get a game for that one, that was a baseball hack. He also hit his head on the glass pretty good, I'd be pisssed too.

I get that they don't want to let the Panthers take liberties with them, but why do this? Sure you're up 3-0 but are the Habs trying to make this game close? Gotta be more disciplined than this or you'll get burned. Poor Carey. Even with a 3-goal lead he can't get comfy

Same. Got nothing to do with ethnicity and all that **** Montreal media focuses on either. Like Koivu, a nice ceremony and maybe inclusion in some wall of fame would be nice. But this team reserves those banners for the true greatest of the greats, ones who either were dominant at their position and won awards or ones who had many Cups. Some I bet will argue against Price if he never wins a Cup here even if he puts up Brodeur-like resume and stays a Hab until age 40.

But unlike Marky, he could claim to be the best or among the top 5 at his position for a sustained period. So Carey is the only Hab who has a shot at seeing his # hung one day. Subban was in that conversation too (like Chelios once) but then boom, that dissipated! Markov has been this franchise's silent MVP for a good decade and a half and the man who's held down the defence when healthy. Through thick and thin. But never a year-end All-star, never a Norris finalist, only top 10 in Norris voting maybe a couple times even.

If we're gonna argue about Habs deserving of it then what about Jacques Lemaire? Steve Shutt? Mats Naslund? If you just wanna talk D-men deserving of that honour, then J.C. Tremblay, Jacques Laperriere or Jean-Guy Talbot have just as good an argument as Markov IMO. Many born after the dynasty years would be upset if Markov isn't honoured like that, but they gotta do their homework for this franchise's rich history. Markov would get a jersey retirement for any non-Original 7 team maybe though.

Guys like Shutt, Savard, Bouchard and Cournoyer got their numbers retired and never won anything but Cups and shared Smythes in a 6 team league where the Habs always had the better team.

You cant fault Markov and Koivu for playing in a tougher league under the worst management ever. More so on Markovs side, he was elite for long. Getting Norris votes at 34 35 36 and most probably this year... 2nd all time in points.... 1000 games... Theres no way, no way they dont retire it.
