Unless a spectacular offer is on the table, it’s keep 2 D and 1 forward. Tucker graduates, and you move 2 of McCourt, Busby and Lalonde, who are your D next year? This is a club currently built around a high end Dcore. I don’t see them completely moving away from that. Same up front, Dellandrea graduates, (anybody who doesn’t think THAT is happening is completely clueless with zero common sense), Phibbs graduates, and if you trade Connor Roberts you’re left with Morgan and Kressler as your centers. Jack Wismer is one of my favorite Firebirds, but as of RIGHT NOW, it’s wisest to look for options to move him.

Ideally, I think you do not trade from the shallow positions. I am guessing Wismer for sure, one of (Lalonde)/Busby, and Roberts will be OAs. Though I would not be surprised if four were kept to start next season.
I think that if the firebirds want to keep McCourt over Roberts, they would be moving out Giroux and two of Deline, Dunbar, Roy for assets to obtain a good centre.
It would just be easier to start out with a group of forwards that are familiar with one another; including a true top line.
Oksentyuk-Morgan-Wismer
Keppen-Roberts-Pierce
Piercy-Kressler-Othman
Giroux-pick-pick

Owen Sound will not be a pushover tonight and we are missing a couple of our best players. Stay focused and disciplined boys.

Pathetic effort tonight. Backing into the playoffs is a terrible idea!
Went from everyone contributing a week ago to no one contributing.
The first 2 goals were horrible! I'm a 60 year old fat guy and could have stopped them!

"On Wednesday Owen Sound will be attempting to protect their lead on the seventh spot in the conference and won't be a pushover especially with the typical sparsely attended Wednesday night crowds at the Dort."

1 - Kaleb Pearson
2 - Mack Guzda
3 - Brady Lyle

DECISION......2 Points to the Attack

Pretty flat performance last night. Sure hope Cavallin is close. Don't like seeing Popovich overused like this with the playoffs right around the corner.

Saginaw led by a pair of goals by Blade Jenkins defeated Mississauga 6-2 in a Thurday morning game at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

The victory by the Spirit extends Saginaw's undefeated streak to seven (6-0-1-0) and lead in the West Division of the OHL to 3 points (83-80) over the Firebirds. In addition, the Spirit also have one game in hand on Flint.

Back to the OAs for next year.

I think I'd lean Wismer as the most important based on the returning roster.

1. Wismer
2. McCourt
3. LaLonde
4. Roberts
5. Busby

Would be my order, depending on return id be open to trading anyone 2-5.

Next question.....

Who wears the C after Ty?

Congrats to former Firebird Samuel Duchesne! I still say it’s a shame he was cast aside because every minute he played was a minute that a particular someone else did not.

Tonight’s game could determine home ice advantage in the first round. Hope we come to play. Last two were very poor performances.

Ask yourself if Windsor really wants home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs after how they have recently been playing?

Spitfire wins in last 10 home games......2

Spitfire wins in last 10 road games......6.

Saturday night's game against Windsor is indeed pivotal, a Firebirds loss and Saginaw wins on Saturday afternoon (at Hamilton) and Sunday afternoon (at Erie) could find Flint seven points behind the Spirit.

A Flint win against the Spitfires and two Saginaw losses would put Flint only one point behind the Spirit with both teams having six games to play, making the March 18th game in Flint against Saginaw really mean something in the standings.

They should come to play. Wellwood will have them ready regardless of who is out. Be stupid if he didn’t have them ready and showing up unlike the previous games.

I always liked his game, and ability to throw the body around. Would make some real poor decisions coming out of the defensive end and turned it over a little much, but I think that would have been fixed over time.

There will be a great walk-up crowd again tonight. Sure hope we have Dellandrea and Keppen back. If not, this could be a long night.

Dellandra still had a cast or brace on his hand at season ticket holder event last nite. Think they will hold him out until the playoffs. Didnt see Keppen. Two games ago Keppen still had a boot on when i seen him.

I thought I saw Keppen up in the little over hang above section 6 without crutches on Wednesday (couldn't tell if he had a boot or not).

I know it was the first time in 2-3 weeks I didn't see the crutches leaning up against the side up there, he also might not have been up there at all too.

Not good when trying to hold that 4th spot. Hopefully, the other guys will step up.
