The thing with the Brodeur-whatever-the-f***-that-was-in-2003-goal, I can never figure out what his thought process was that made that unfold.

I think he was trying to move the puck up ice quickly and catch the Ducks in a change, talk about it exploding in your face...



Kinda eerie, its like watching a mirror image actually. Right down to the forechecker kinda coming in hot if you dont sweep it away...


Video quality sucks but that looks like more operator error than wicked bounce in MAFs case, looks like Thomas' stick isn't flush on the ice, toe is off the ground and it goes under stick.

As somebody that used to be a goalie, generally the way you get your stick into the position to be able to stick handle is to "fling it" forward like you would in a poke check and catch the knob. Brodeur either flung it too hard or didn't catch it hence why it looks like he "threw" his stick. The whole thing was predicated with the idea to play the puck which makes sense if you look at the sequence of the play.
