An update on Kevin Bahl's status.

The defenceman was hit by Jakub Lauko last night in Minnesota, forcing him to leave the game and the Flames to run with five defenders for over half of the night.

Huska confirmed Bahl will not playing this evening when the Flames wrap up their road trip against the Jets at 4 p.m. MT (Sportsnet West) and the team will be reevaluating the blueliner when they return to Calgary.

With Bahl out, the Flames will have a couple of new-look defensive pairings in their second tilt in Winnipeg in the last week.

"We're still a little bit up in the air in that area. Jake Bean will obviously come back in the lineup tonight and we'll go from there. Likely he'll be back with (Brayden) Pachal," Huska noted during his morning media availability.

If Bahl is out for any extended period of time, I’d love for them to bring Poirier up for a couple of games with the big club. Smooth-skating, great with the puck and can put up points, he and Razzy could pair up pretty well together. No disrespect, but it should only ever be one of Hanley or Bean in the lineup, not both imho.
