GDT: Flames vs Giant Squid - 7 pm MST

Frost looks like a player, Farabee, in his 2 games shown nothing. I am not saying it can't improve, just stating the facts. I was trying to get some clarity whether he could be injured... I get that some guys need longer to adapt, but he didn't have anything. Of course I will support thim to get better but I didn't see a single flash of brilliance (yet).

I don't know what your definition of nothing is, but IMO he's shown glimpses of what he can do. I'm pretty sure that's what others are arguing with you. His stats might be blank, sure, but by the eye test, he isn't nothing at all. He just wasn't as lucky as Frost to get on the scoreboard yet. Farabee I've seen some glimpses of bits and pieces that remind me of a combination of Coleman and Tkachuk. We shall see what transpires as he gets more comfortable.

Keep in mind it's been stated that Huska intentionally has given both of them as little instructions on the system so far to focus on them playing their own game and focusing on chemistry and warming up to the team. I assume both guys are going to be doing some serious homework during the 4 nations for our system and may stumble out of the game afterwards as they try to integrate that into their game.

If you're looking for Farabee to be a game-breaking talent, I think you're setting yourself up to get upset (Please understand I am talking in generalities, I don't know what your specific expectations are for Farabee). As with all middle-6 forwards, he has limitations. I think it's important to note when he scored 20 in 55gp and 17 in 63gp, his shooting percentage was WAY above league average, which should always raise some eyebrows/causes for concern. But, I think he's capable of being a pretty consistent 20-25g/25-30a type guy in the right conditions. He's always played his best as the supplemental player on a high-skill line, which is what is happening so far in Calgary. It's not that he's a low-skilled guy, he's got a higher level of skill than you're average middle-6 player but he plays off high skill very well. In that role, he doesn't have to be the primary facilitator, but can just focus on linking and extending plays. He's very good in the cycle game.

It's also worth noting that Torts had Farabee all over the place this season. He was playing top line minutes one game, then relegated to the 4th line, then scratched. He also pulled away most of his PP time. So, I wouldn't be shocked if Farabee has a bit of a mental fog that he first needs to get over.

What's wrong with the idea of rewarding Matty and letting Bee adapt next to our Captain? He will end up there sooner rather than later so not really looking for validation...
Nothing. Just saying dont rush judgement on a player who has been flying pretty much non stop for the past 5 days. I also wouldnt break up the BCC line when its been the Flames most consistent line since it was put together.

While I agree that the BCC has worked very well for Coro this far, I get the sense that he’s gained the experience he’s had to, and would benefit now from riding shotgun to a legit playmaker, which Frost has shown in very short order to be. I don’t think it’s so much that people are ready to pass judgement on Farabee so much as it is wanting to give him the support he needs to figure out what his role with the Flames can be. They might not even miss a beat going from BCC to BCBee, and I’m REALLY curious to see how a Rango-Frosty-Coro line would fare.

I have a feeling that management might like to try and develop Farabee into a Coleman type. Excellent two way supporting cast player who plays all over the place in the top 9, but not an elite game breaker.

However, I also think management is being careful not to immediately shoehorn him into that position in case there's indication there's a role/style that is a better fit for him.

Frost I don't know yet. He seems to play like a great combination of Backs and Kadri. Again, let him get comfortable and see what path is revealed vs immediately asking him to play one way to potentially repeat the risk of the same thing continuing on from his time in Philly.

I liked what I saw with Frost and I'd say that even if he hadn't scored a goal. To me Farabee was close to being invisible. I think it was a mistake playing him on the first line. I'd much rather see him and Frost play together... at least for the short term.

In regards to your last sentence, obviously if Farabee returns to form, it would be huge. But, I really think Frost will take a step forward and goes from a high 45-point mid-six center to a 55-60 point center, and then this trade is going to look absolutely horrendous from a Flyers perspective — it already looks really bad.

I will be around your boards a bit as I plan checking in from time to time on these guys.
Honestly, I've seen a bit of Farabee (Flames are my main team, I follow Washington out east, and I catch a few other games with friends when I can, just happens to be a lot of them are Flyers games). He definitely reminds me of a Coleman type as a consistent 45 point guy, who isn't afraid of being physical/getting into the dirty areas, even if he isn't actively hitting/roughing guys up.

Frost to me is like, an ideal 2nd line center who can pop off and carry a game/line every now and then when the rest of the team isn't doing it. I've been quite happy so far.

And feel welcome to stop by, you'll always be welcome as long as you cheer against the Oilers.

Hey fellas, thanks for all your inputs and apologies if my view or views are sometimes composed/percepted as combative. I am just always honest with my takes and I won't change, so please give me a pass :) I can reassure you that my only goal on this board is to comment candidly- even if the majority disagree. I was correctly negative early days with Smith and with Neal as some recent historic exmples- I was proven right. I also can't digest or pretend that Dan the Flake is good enough for our PO run. I know he is a B, but he is just an unreliable B netminder. He made (yet again) couple of brainfarts vs Seattle and got lucky on one (silly penalty). On the other hand, I was way too critical of Wolf but changed my mind quickly when he gave me some signals, showing who he really is or could soon become. He has been class act and I put my hands up early November- admitting my poor judgement. It might be, that I am again wrong with Bee, and hope I am- I just didn't see anything there in his first 2 games (unlike with Frost) and voiced it.

I won't give you another example in Mr Rooney to ponder as it's pointless but I spotted that lazy pattern and limitations early, contrary to some, who were indicating otherwise.

Horses for courses!

But I will keep supporting these fellas in good and bad times ....and keep waking up early mornings, showing my support and appreciation.

Cheers fellas.

I think that in a situation where you have a clear #1 and a clear backup, there aren't many backups around the league better than Vladar. He has shown the ability to steal a game, even if it isn't the norm.
