I think J Mac can be a good safe guard for us, if Ramo/Berra/whoever fails for us, we can fall back on him, he won't outright steal us games, but he gives us a chance to win almost every time he's out there. I like it.

He's been pretty good. And thankfully it's only a one year contract.

It's fine, likely signals Taylor isn't getting a contract for next season, too many Gs signed (assuming we can come to terms w/ Ramo). Not to mention if Mac gets outplayed in camp by Ramo and Berra, he can always be waived, so it's hard to see a downside to the signing.

technically speaking he could sign him May 1st, but then he would count towards the 50 contract limit and a year would burn off it. By waiting until free agency it just makes it easier.
