I think the Avs matching the offer this quickly showed they always wanted him back and weren't afraid to spend, they just couldn't justify telling it EJ and Dutchy if they offered more.

This way, it shows their committed to winning (well, kind of...) to the players, while have an excuse saying their hands are tied. I'm not worried about the next contracts at all.

Told you guys, it wasn't about $$$ for the Avs, it was about principles.

Especially IF the Avs were one of those teams complaining about huge contracts coming out of Entry Level DURING the lockout, giving in to RoR would have looked extremely bad!!!

I wonder if it had anything to do with the 2-0 lead?!

Sherman ends up paying him 5 mil per anyway and 6.5 in the 2nd year. How is this about principles? Sherman lost.
