He’ll be a UFA around the time our stud rightys will be knocking on the door, with righty Weegar still under contract and Raz only two seasons into the eight year deal Conny will inevitably re-sign him to. Parekh mostly plays left side with Saginaw, and Weegs can play both sides, but it still makes me wonder what the long-term plan is for the corps when there clearly isn’t enough room for everybody. I’m sure people are sick of me saying it, but Razzy’s gotta go while we can still get a package that includes a 2026 1st. Strip the entire corps down to Weegar, Bahl, Solo, and Pachal. If Weegs plays LD, that leaves two spots on the right side for any two of Parekh, Brzu, Mews, and yes, even Makar. And that’s not even considering potential stud leftys Morin, Poirier, Kuznetsov, and Jamieson.

This season

Bahl-Andersson
Solo-Weegar
Bean-Pachal

Next season

Bahl-Andersson
Weegar-Parekh
Solo-Pachel

Then when Andersson & Solo are traded

Weegar-Parekh
Bahl-Brzustewicz
Grushnikov-Kuznetsov

Unless the tank is back on, Conny needs to fire Mr. Bean and Tyson Barely directly into the sun. Call up Poirier so we can actually have some top-four talent in our top-four, and make Solo a permanent 3rd pair mainstay. Play Solo with Raz and Hanley with Patches until Bahl comes back.

All of our young leftys need time with the big club to see for sure what we have. I like what I’ve seen in Grush so far, but I’m honestly still not sold on Kuznetsov. Morin will likely need a season or two with the Wranglers, which leaves Solo and Poirier as the most NHL-ready LHDs we have in the system. I actually wouldn’t mind re-upping Solo for a two or three year bridge deal to stabilize that bottom pair while we wait for other guys to be ready.

If we do end up moving Raz, I think I’d prefer to see

Bahl - Weegar
Parekh - Brzu
Solo - Patches

and phase in/out whichever guys from there as needed

I was being serious and I like your analogy. I am also with you on cutting ties with Rasmus.

i too am all for trading Ras.
On fan960 today they were discussing the possibility of trading Ras at the 2025 summer draft to a team with a top 10 draft pick. THAT would be good asset management.

Flames recall Solovyov and Kuznetsov today and now have 10 D on the roster.

Is this a reward for good play, as in a couple of big paydays, or something more?

Hopefully it means two of Barrie, Bean, or Miro being waived. Don’t forget Bahl is still on IR, so it’s technically nine dmen until he is activated.

I’d personally would rather it have been Poirier, but I’m ready to be sold on Kuzy. I haven’t watched the Wranglers as much this year as I did last year, but a team high +22 surely speaks for itself. In any case, I feel strangely more confident with an inexperienced Solo-Kuzy combo on that left side than I do with Bean and Barrie.

Since Barrie was not at practice, guessing the decision has been made for him to no longer be on the Flames. Either contract termination, waived, etc.

Miromanov is the bigger question as he still has another year on his contract.
