That was great. One of my other favourites was the Oilers segment, especially "Are the Oilers going to win the cup?" "NO!" That's a guy who has bought in to the culture right there.
the story about the hockey bags was good too

Missing time at the beginning of the season really hurt him. He doesnt mentally trust his body or shot. Hopefully he snaps out of it during the second half of the year. He started out ice cold last season too.

He probably returned from injury too soon like Mangiapane did for us. Shoulders are tricky. Unlike Mangiapane, Sharangovich is useless when he’s not scoring.

Extending him so soon was a headscratcher by Conroy. New contract kicks in next summer

Yeah I think Conroy f***ed it by signing him too early. Partial saving grace is that we still have the most cap space in the league so it doesn't hurt too bad, but the bad contracts are really starting to pile up even with all the space. The most we can ask for is A) Conroy learned his lesson to not do exactly what Treliving did with Huberdeau and sign him way too early and obviously B) Sharky bounces back which I think he can if he can stay healthy.

I'd rather risk losing players for nothing than signing them to these big contracts and then they immediately no show (which I don't think anyone does purposely).

I think I have been patient enough but his non existence is very concerning.

What is wrong with him and how can it be fixed?
He had a career year and got paid

Could be injuries but I doubt it

Plenty of people came back from injuries

I am saying he had a career year that he probably can’t repeat

Conroy jumped the gun and overpaid a mediocre middle six winger
Ah.... You could be well right...hopefully not a Josh Anderson alike or we are in trouble :(

Not a huge overpay at least. Middle six prices are going up at least.

But this was my concern with the deal too at the time. Hoping it's more injuries than anything.

Looking at his game logs and it's like after Nov. 25, hits SOG drop exponentially. He had scored in 3 straight games and had 7 shots in B2B games... then he just stopped and hasn't has more than 3 shots a game since and has 5 games with 0 shots... whereas before he only had 1 game without a shot and that was his first game of the year. Just teh sudden drop off makes me wonder if his shoulder needs surgery

I would hope we simply shut him down if that's the case, instead of doing the Flames thing of keeping them playing hurt and ineffective.

It's not a Flames thing, it's a league wide thing. Players want to play and if they're told they can play as long as pain is manageable, they will usually choose to play. And teh NHLPA being the NHLPA will gladly file a grievance if a player believes they can play and the team won't allow it.

Uh pretty sure coaches and management have the discretion to "healthy" scratch someone whenever they want to especially if their performance is miserable. See: Kuzmenko

I think he looked deadly in the preseason and that injury really derailed his season.

Hopefully he figures it out. He might just be one of those guys that’s good one season bad the next.

Yeah I'm hopeful it doesn't become a Monahan-lite type situation where he'd just constantly play through absurd levels of pain, but be totally ineffective most nights.

Would obviously much rather shut him down and let someone else eat those minutes if he's only operating at 30-40% (arbitrary figures, but he looks a shadow of himself).
